Going into the season, we (fans and the media) over looked many of our opponents. We thought that talent alone would be enough to completely mop the floor against everyone. Fans, sports bloggers, ESPN, etc. created a monster that was too big for it's own ego. Now, 3 games into the season and ESPN is no longer running quarterback debates. Celebrities are no longer commenting on the JT versus Cardale situation. This year's team look more like last year's FSU team than it does last year's Buckeye's team. This year's team had its raw emotion replaced with undeserving swagger. Cardale no longer looks like the beast who slayed teams last year. He looks timid when he runs the ball. He doesn't play as fiery as he did. For those who thought JT was going to be the sudden cure for all of our problems, today and last week proved that is false. He looked equally as terrible. His balls were constantly underthrown and lacked power. It looks as though the entire offense has regressed and don't have the same fire or talent that they had last year. Again, these are only my subjective observations and shouldn't be taken as fact. But, a good thing is that our defense is amazing. A few years ago, it was our defense that was holding our team back. We aren't only stacked in terms of talent, but we are also well schemed. Gareon Conley has been the best corner on the team so far. Tyvis Powell is constantly making plays. Vonn Bell is making himself more of a well rounded player. We even had a Cam Burrows sighting. And, the defensive line is amazing right now. It seems like no matter who we put in, they are going to cause havoc. Another silver lining is that, as the defense continues to dominate, our offense will have more opportunities to work out its kinks, whether they be coaching, play calling, or not having the right players in the game.
