I know the game was far from over at that point, but I was struck by how exhausted Marcus Mariota clearly was at the end of the first half. I've watched him play many times, and I have never seen him work so hard against any other defense, even in the few other games that the Ducks lost. I think that was completely unexpected by anyone and really foreshadowed the eventual outcome.
The Buckeye defense really turned the tables on the Ducks. It was supposed to be the other way around, everyone expected the Silver Bullets to be out of breath, hands on hips, on the verge of breaking like Florida State did.
Instead, I think we saw their finest hour.
That is all.
