As Ohio State hopes to fight its way up four more spots in the playoff rankings, everyone is looking towards the Buckeyes beating #25 Minnesota and a ranked Nebraska or Wisconsin, and hoping those wins might cause a jump of one or more higher ranked teams if they should fail to lose. But, hopefully the playoff committee is looking at more than just two wins versus ranked teams in the final four weeks.
First of all, since Minnesota is a common opponent with TCU, a convincing win against Minnesota could be the key separation needed if it comes down to a B1G vs. Big 12 battle. And, the game vs. unranked Indiana could actually turn out to be as big as beating two ranked teams and way more important than anyone thinks. It could even be the final eraser of VT. If Missouri continues to win and ends up winning the SEC East and/or the SEC championship, aren't people going to finally be forced to give credit to Ohio State and the B1G for doing to Indiana what Missouri couldn't do? Not only should this erase VT, it would be a second straight boost.
Then, there is the obvious final boost of beating Nebraska/Wisconsin, winning a championship, and playing one more game than the Big 12. If it comes down to a TCU/Baylor battle or a battle with a non-SEC champ, I think all of this (plus ratings and money) will make the Buckeyes too hard to leave out.
