Well take look at Jerome Tang and Kansas St

Tang had never been a HC before.

KSU had been 34-58 under Bruce Weber in the 3 years before he got there and 13-41 in the B12

At one point due to transfers they had only 2 guys on scholarship, losing 8 guys to the Xfer portal between March 25 and April 4, ie 11 days,,,

So what happened in this his first year on the job.

They brought in a nearly an entire roster of guys from the transfer portal and had to build some kind of cohesion among them to succeed,,, sound similar to this year at OSU??? They signed 6 guys from April 13 to June 24.

Thye brought in guys from Stoney Brook, Hofstra, Va Tech, Miss St

They have a 5'8" PG, a leading scorer who transferred from Florida who hardly played the last 2 years due to a medical condition, a juco xfer Center who didnt play hoops in HS and averages 10 a night and none of their top 8 scorers originally started their careers at KSU, but somehow they built a cohesive unit the plays together.

They went 12-1 OOC, went 11-7 in the B12, more wins than they had in conference in any season but 1 in the last 10 years. Finishing in 3rd place just 2 games out of first

And tonight beat blue blood Kentucky to advance to the sweet 16. 

They have now done something Holtmann has failed to do even though compared to Tang he has had every advantage,,,make a Sweet 16.
