Interesting article in The Athletic looking at the revenues and expenses of the Sweet Sixteen teams. They used the 2023-2024 year for their numbers and they don't include NIL.
Duke leads revenue by a large margin with $44 million. Surprisingly Illinois is second at $36 million. Both are also #1 and #2 on the expense side at $25 million and $18.9 million respectively. Michigan is middle of the pack at $20.9 million in revenue and $15.7 million in expenses.
Head coach salaries showcase range of Dan Hurley at UConn making over $8 million down to Pitino in last at $2.4 million. Michigan reportedly paid Dusty May $4.6 million in his first season.

Could not find good numbers for Ohio State for the 2023-2024 season and a chunk of change that year went into Holtmann 's buyout but for fiscal year 2025 it is reported we had $23.5 in revenue and $14.6 in direct operating expenses. The only coach in the Sweet Sixteen making less than Jake is Pitino and that was by only a few hundred thousand. So it's certainly not on the revenue and expense side (even with Holtmann's buyout) that we lack money nor are we low compared to most of the Sweet Sixteen teams.
