An ESPN article with that headline last night had an interview with the new interim coach.  One of his remarks really baffled me:

——

"It has been a tumultuous time," Poggi said. "A lot of ... first disbelief, then anger, then really, what we're in right now is the kids, quite frankly, feel very betrayed, and we're trying to work through that."

——

Perhaps I am misreading this, but I wonder: why exactly do the players feel betrayed?  Per various reports, Moore’s relationship with his assistant was widely known.  So it’s not as if the players could have been surprised by that.

So then…did the players feel betrayed by the Athletic Department in its decision to fire Moore?  I mean, perhaps that is understandable on some level given the fact that the players had witnessed the complete “anything goes” attitude previously displayed by the Athletic Department in recent years.

From my perspective, the story seems to understore what the culture of Michigan football is all about, i.e., the culture of sleaze.
