I heard Mike Farrell (formerly Rivals and now he runs his own agency for college players & their parents) on Full Ride with Neuheisal and Childers this morning. He was spitting gems.
Since the media is finally starting to turn on TCUN and report their serious transgressions I thought we should start a thread for these new media takes. If we just put them in the scandal threads they get buried quickly due to the volume of posts in those threads.
Here's what Farrell had to say:
1. He doesn't "hate Michigan more than OSU or any other program".
2. Michigan and others have known about this situation with Moore for a month or more.
3. They were waiting until after the OSU game and national signing day to take action.
4. Their players and new signees will ALL be allowed to transfer through the portal and there's no way the paperwork they signed will be able to be used to keep them there. (i don't think he was talking about it from a legal perspective but more from a future relationship with players and future recruits perspective but I could be wrong).
5. Warde Manuel is going to be fired.
6. The program must sever all ties with Jim Harbaugh, his coaches and staff. The new head coach and staff can't come from the Harbaugh tree.
7. They can't let Warde manage the search, he needs to be fired and they need to hire a search firm to do the search. They need to be fast.
8. He doesn't think DeBoer will be interested, neither will Brohm and a few other big names. He said Jed Fisch is the best and most likely solution. He said Brian Kelly hasn't been mentioned by anyone close to Michigan. Said it was also true with the PSU opening. Thinks Brian Kelly is currently being "blackballed" within CFB.
9. They will lose players and recruits from their current class and that other teams are already contacting them even though it's technically "tampering". Said it happens every time and most recently with the 50 day PSU coaching vacancy.
10. Said, that even though Moore's relationship with his assistant and his reaction to being fired wasn't directly Harbaugh's fault the culture and all these other scandals is Harbaugh's doing and that it wasn't worth it in terms of the hit to the program and school. He specifically brought up Spiro's point about 11 instances of where Harbaugh and his coaching staff have been either arrested or suspended. He said Harbaugh is out in San Diego happier than a pig in poop and couldn't care less.
11. He said, if you're an Ohio State fan today you must be smiling from ear-to-ear. "after hearing all the Harbaugh and Michigan BS for the past 4 years they should be rightfully happy". He mentioned "it all started in 2020 when Michigan ducked Ohio State since they knew they were going to lose by 50 points. Then they had the illegal sign stealing where they knew all of Ohio State's signs and they had to deal with all of that for all these years".
12. The most interesting thing he said is with all of these new terminations (presumably meaning Moore, Warde and the left-over staff members) there will be lots more dirt coming out about Michigan's football program. He said there is still much more that hasn't been reported and it will come out as a result of these terminations. (hope he's right on that - maybe he knows the stuff that 22 has been referencing?).
13. Another interesting point is he said Fisch is the right head coach but he's not going to only lose 1-2 games a year in his first 3 years and he's not going to do what they did to win their championship so the fans are going to want him gone in 2-3 years. He paralleled that with PSU and Campbell saying it will be the same thing in Happy Valley even though Campbell was the right hire for them.
Was so refreshing to hear him just destroying them. Childers who's like a wind sock was seemingly in agreement.
