OK, I know that #1 is a no-brainer. But the past few years have given us so many villains in this messed-up, leaderless sport we follow. I am mixing up the ten candidates below to avoid biasing (and again - we know what is #1), but please share your top 5 or top 10 rankings below:
Notre Dame. Arrogant weasels, refuse to join a conference, then cry about mistreatment from the conference they won't join. Taking their ball and going home. Lou Holtz is a hero there. Should have lost by 24 in the championship game.
Paul Finebaum. Troll. Helped popularize "SEC!SEC!" from fans whose teams are trash. Immune to facts.
Jim Harbaugh (separate from TCUN overall). Cheated, general a-hole, ran out of town ahead of the police. Currently not allowed to coach in college football.
Tennessee. Lost their minds and slandered Greg Schiano so that they could hire Jeremy Pruitt who they then framed for illegal player payments to avoid paying him. Last seen getting a high school kid's mom and older brother to forge his signature so he would flip from OSU on signing day.
The Herbstreits. Kirk insulted Buckeye fans again and again last year, got weirdly emotional, overstated Tennessee fan attendance, was a general jackoff. Carries the SEC water for the playoff rankings. Produced a child who was last seen guarding the M after the Ann Arbor beat-down - I think you can see him trembling a little, hoping nobody from OSU approaches.
TCUN. Cheaters. Mediocre, gutless program. Need I say more?
Georgia and Kirby Smart. They injured Marv. Unprecedented string of repeated driving incidents including fatal ones. Supreme whiners at refs and the world generally.
Phil Knight. Making a fortune off of overseas child labor wasn't enough - now desperately trying to buy his favorite team a collection of players to win a natty before he croaks.
E$PN. Owns the playoffs. Owns the airwaves. Owns the SEC network. Contractually mandated to run a weekly playoff ranking show that lies to viewers. Shills for their SEC teams with a straight face.
Dave Portnoy. TCUN troll and jackass. Attacked Ryan Day's character while fending off sexual misconduct accusations. Trying to help TCUN buy recruits while still running a sports platform.
Also-rans. I had a hard time leaving off Alabama (rationale: they suck now, who cares), Cignetti (recency bias - he won't matter in two years), JJ McCarthy (his punishment is being bad at football). I'm sure I missed others.
