I think Sherrone Moore is a replacement-level coach. Always have thought this. A guy who was hired because he was loyal and kept his mouth shut, had the Harbaugh seal of approval, and could transition through any NCAA penalties if they happened.
At this point, Moore has a 7-5 season, salvaged by the win over OSU. And a 9-3 season in which they only played 3 decent teams and were boat raced by all of them.
I see Moore coaching two more years and getting fired. Though my hope is that he wins just enough to keep going and going.
Next year - Michigan's schedule is much tougher than this year. For some reason, a lot of Michigan fans seem to think that the team will be better because they are starting a lot of first and second year guys on offense. Those guys - outside of Marsh - haven't done anything, so I don't know why we would expect them to be playoff caliber next year. I am seeing 8-4 with another ass-kicking in Columbus.
Then, Moore is officially on the hot seat. It will be year 3 of the $12 million QB. And I don't think a school like Michigan can miss the 12-team playoffs for 4 years in a row without making a change. I don't think either Moore or Underwood are good enough to get it done. I think he's cut loose on the day after OSU beats him down in Ann Arbor in 2027.
