Am I smoking something or didn’t they put a rule in over the off-season that a defensive line shift that causes the offensive line to false start would be assessed the penalty? I know the CBS broadcasters mentioned it several times, but I don’t see anyone else talking about it because Indiana won. But if Indiana lost because of it I think it’d be a much bigger deal.
Can someone who’s more informed than I am explain this to me: did the referees keep making the wrong call? Were the broadcasters and I wrong and there’s nuance there we’re not getting which is why Indiana was called for false starts each time?
Feels like this needs to be cleared up (hopefully by the B1G offices) before a big game turns on a false start ruling like those ones. Between that and Kirby completely controlling the SEC crew on the Auburn-Georgia game it was a really bad day for officiating yesterday.
