I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for Devin “Burn The Ships” Brown.  Ultimate team guy and true leader by example.  I think he may have ended up our starter in 2023 had he not been injured in the PSU game. The bowl game against Missouri would have ended differently, too. He has a lot of those Will Howard intangibles. I hope he starts and succeeds.

“He brings a presence to the meeting room,” Harsin said about Brown. “He’s been in a great program. He knows how to prepare. He is equally as smart as any of the coaches we have in that room; he can coach, there’s no question about it. He sees things. He’s added a few ideas that we didn’t have in that (Ohio State) did. He’s an accurate thrower. He’s got great command on the field. He’s got presence; you know, really about everything he does …”

Interestingly, the fact that Devin still has 2 years of eligibility AND all that experience at OSU AND still chose to transfer is telling.  Julian Sayin pushed him all year as a redshirt freshman.

I assume Devin transferred because he was told by Day or he saw the writing on the wall that Sayin is the real deal. I’d love to know the real story.

This guy has all the Will Howard intangible confidence and leadership aspects, which our current QBs seem to be lacking a little. He knows the offense best. It’s a big deal do Day.  And yet, we let Devin go.

This indicates to me that Sayin is that good.  I don’t think Devin was threatened by the prospect of LK passing him (LK was 4th string last year).

Still, missing DB and wonder what it would be like if he were in the QB competition this Summer.
