Was thinking about a hypothetical scenario if Saban didn't go to Alabama. Used Whatifsports.com to sim the games, best of 7 series.
- Texas (4-0 sweep vs UF). Honestly, This would've been a hard one for me, I think Florida has a really good chance to win. But with this scenario, it assumes Colt McCoy doesn't get hurt. Also not a bad outcome for the butterfly effect because if Florida wins this it begs the question does Urban Meyer even leave Florida for Ohio State
- Auburn
- Oklahoma State (4-2 vs LSU). A little shocked by this result, would've assumed LSU would be the champs. But Brandon Weeden and Justin Blackmonwould lead Gundy State.
- Georgia (4-3 vs ND). Agree with the result, honestly don't thing it would've been that close, ND was fraudulent.
- Florida State
- Ohio State (4-1 vs TCU). Same national champion but the butterfly effect has OSU facing TCU instead of Oregon
- Clemson (No sim, kept IRL result vs OU). Clemson beats Iowa 4-2 in one semifinal, Oklahoma beats MSU in the other semifinal 4-2
- Washington (4-2 vs PSU). This was the biggest shocker of the whole sim. Penn State beats Clemson 4-3 in the 1v4 matchup. Washington goes 4-2 vs OSU and Washington seals the deal against PSU. Petersen gets a National Title. Personally, I don't think that PSU beats Clemson but if PSU/UW matched up, I think that UW wins (Shoutout Franklin). Also think that UW beats Tim Beck that year.
- Ohio State (4-0 vs UGA). First miscellaneous OSU title of the sim, Ohio State (4-3) vs Clemson in the semifinal and then crushes UGA. Personally think OSU beats Clemson easily, they benefited from an easy schedule, their offense was terrible. Probably would've been a reverse 2016. Also not shocked that OSU won it all because there wasn't a dominant team in 2017 but I am shocked by how dominant OSU was vs UGA, every game was a blowout. Grant it UGA wasn't the machine yet but still overall an unspectacular OSU team. Leaves open the butterfly effect does the mass post NC assistant coach exodus happen and Day leave for the NFL or college HC job after fixing OSU's offense?
- Clemson (4-3 vs UGA). Faces UGA instead of Bama, a strangely close result. Clemson probably destroys UGA.
- Ohio State - As it should have been idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- Ohio State (No Sim, kept IRL result vs Clemson). Clemson 4-0 vs A&M, OSU 4-2 vs ND. First sim title of the Day era, second if you believe the universe would've self corrected. This is assuming he doesn't leave after 2017. Justin Fields also cements his legacy as a [universe adjusted ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ back to back] national championship winning QB at OSU
- Georgia (4-1 vs UC). Faces Cincy and not Bama. Kinda shocked that Cincy 4-0 Michigan, but then again makes sense considering they wouldn't have pre-scouted.
- Ohio State - Universe correction pt. 2 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- Washington (No sim, kept IRL result vs UT). I swear I'm not rigging it. This sim hates Michigan and I'm here for it, UT 4-0 vs UM, I kept FSU above UT as the 3 seed as that would've probably happened in real life if they didnt try to force in Alabama. Washington beat Travis-less FSU 4-1
Bonus Heisman - 2012 Manti T'eo - Manziel doesn't have his Heisman moment against Bama
