Most of us are aware of the differences between the 3 potential punishments for the Cheaters. But for those that aren't aware - vacating wins takes the W away from the Cheaters but keeps the L for the victim, no contest removes the record of the game from both teams, and forfeit changes the W to L for the Cheaters while changing the L to W for the victim.
Vacating wins is certainly not fair to the victims as Coach Day and the Buckeyes (and all the other "victims") would have to keep the L for a game where cheating happened. And getting a W (for the victim) in the case of forfeits isn't quite fair as it isn't known if the victim would have won in a fair contest.
There is, what I believe, a fair way the the NCAA to handle this (although I highly doubt they would go this way). And here it is. The Cheaters would take forfeits for all games in the 3 seasons for the cheating. But the victims would get "no contest" so the L is removed from their record.
