Dennis Dodd reported that Notre Dame wants to reach the $75 million mark to remain independent. Previous reports have said they want to stay independent if the money makes sense and if this is true that is the mark they must reach. The B1Gs deal is expected to be over $100 million a year without ND so the gap is already huge.

Notre Dame likely won’t reach this number because they have on average 7 home games with TV rights. This would require NBC to triple their current payout per game, which seems unlikely. Notre Dame makes $22 million from NBC and about another $10 million for their ACC scheduling agreement. Under a contract like this ND would be paid more than $10 million per game when ACC schools are paid $3 million per game by ESPN.

Seems like they will join the B1G based on this story

TLDR: Notre Dame will stay independent if they can reach a very unlikely tv contract, if not they will join the B1G
