Just as many sports pundits predicted, the announcement of Oklahoma and Texas leaving the Big 12 for the SEC in 2024 has started a trickle effect, as current PAC 12 schools USC and UCLA have recently announced that they would join the Big Ten conference in 2024. 

What does this mean? Well, it appears as if there will be four super conferences that consist of 16 teams. The Big Ten and SEC will both have 16 teams after Oklahoma, Texas, USC, and UCLA switch conferences. But what would this mean for the ACC and PAC 12?

I imagine that six teams will join the PAC 12, as it will be left with just ten teams after the departure of USC and UCLA. The six teams that make the most sense to join the PAC 12 would then be the remaining Big 12 teams in Kansas State, Kansas, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech, along with either TCU or a team like Boise State from the Mountain West conference. 

What would this mean for the ACC conference? Well, as it stands, the ACC consists of 14 teams. It would make sense for Notre Dame and West Virginia to join the conference. Notre Dame is already a part of the ACC in other sports, and West Virginia would then reunite with two of its biggest rivals in Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh, as well as a few other former Big East teams.

When it comes to Notre Dame, however, many feel as if the traditional powerhouse should join the Big Ten. After all, that move has been talked about for years now. And with USC and Michigan coexisting in the Big Ten, that would keep those classic rivalries intact.

I personally would prefer to have Notre Dame in the Big Ten, which would give the conference the incentive to remove a terrible team like Rutgers, and would give the ACC the incentive to add a Big East school that is on the rise, such as Cincinnati. Here's a glimpse of what the four power conferences would look like if this scenario played out.
