The goal of this is to expand the playoff to 8 teams while providing more scheduling equality and uniformity amongst conferences.

The regular season: an 11 game regular season. 3 out of conference games, 8 conference games with bye weeks allowed in October. Each school retains the ability for 6 home games and revenue from them.

The championship week: Conferences will rank and align teams from divisions to play 1v1, 2v2, 3v3. Criteria will be established for selecting the better of the two teams i.e. overall record, conference record, etc. and the better of the two teams will get home-field advantage, thus providing the opportunity for half of the teams in each conference to generate revenue from an additional home game. In the case the two teams ranked the same in each division have already played (cross divisional in regular season), the loser of the match is relegated so that no rematches occur, or rematches are minimized at the top. Championship week adds an extra game to the regular season giving all teams 12 games and producing conference rankings for every team.

The 8 team playoff: automatic bids go out to power 5 conference winners. If you do not receive an autobid and play an FCS school, you cannot receive one of the 3 at large bids. Computer rankings (tbd) that do not incorporate polls, only objective metrics, will be used to determine the top 12 teams and at large bids must come from this pool. At large bids will be selected by rankings and must include one non power 5 team if one exists in pool. No conference can have more than 2 teams. Computer rankings will be used to seed teams 1-8. If a regular season rematch is drawn in round 1, the loser will be relegated where possible. Home field advantage throughout the first and second rounds will be given to the lower seeded teams, and the championship will be played at sites that rotate regional sites. First round games to be played 1-2 weeks after championship week. Second round games to be played 1-2 weeks after first round (timing will need some work). Championship to occur New Year’s Day.
