Among several issues that undermine the credibility of ESPN's CFP and The Committee is ESPN's own eye test.
As of this final week, Notre Dame fails this test, because it did not participate. By all rights and given its affiliation with the ACC, ND should have played Clemson in that league's title game, yesterday.
Instead, ND was on the chill, avoiding risk: 1.) Avoiding the risk of a loss and 2.) Avoiding the risk of an injury to a key player. Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Oklahoma incurred these risks, by playing a championship game, yesterday. And Alabama's starting quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate Tua Tagovailoa was himself, injured.
Notre Dame does not pass the eye test of fairness.
Nor does Notre Dame's brand of football, pass the eye test. The Irish are boring.
If ESPN wants the best on the field (i.e. most entertaining, most exciting...most watchable) in the CFP, the following Final Four needs to be installed. These four will pass the eye test, better than any other four teams, in college football. In 2018, you simply cannot top these four teams, for football-viewing pleasure:
1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Ohio State
4. OU
We're about to find out if ESPN passes its own eye test.
