This is incredible.
The University System of Maryland's Board of Regents have reportedly recommended that coach DJ Durkin and athletic director Damon Evans retain their jobs, according to the Washington Post. A press conference has been scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET to discuss the results of the independent investigation into the culture of the football program.
Despite the announcement of the recommendations, a final decision on Durkin and Evans is the prerogative of Maryland president Wallace Loh, who does not have to follow the wishes of the board. Per the Post, Loh, who could be retiring next year, was not in favor of bringing Durkin back, but felt as if he had no option. Nevertheless, the Post, Baltimore Sun and Inside MD Sports, a 247Sports affiliate, report that Durkin is expected to be reinstated to his job this week and return to the sideline Saturday to coach Maryland against Michigan State.
