Games On

Looking for a TV Viewing Guide? Well, you're covered with this last minute piece. Apologize for the lack of depth, but if this something you want, there will be a better one next week. Will complete the rest of the games later today.

SATURDAY'S  NOON BANGERS
TIME GAME CHANNEL
NOON OREGON STATE at No. 5 OHIO STATE ABC
NOON MARYLAND vs. TEXAS (Landover) FS1
NOON KENT STATE at ILLINOIS BTN
NOON TEXAS STATE at RUTGERS BTN ALT
NOON FLORIDA ATLANTIC at OKLAHOMA FOX
NOON OLE MISS vs TEXAS TECH (Houston) ESPN
NOON SOUTHERN at TCU FSN
NOON HOUSTON at RICE CBSSN
NOON COASTAL CAROLINA  at SOUTH CAROLINA SEC NET
NOON JAMES MADISON at NC STATE ESPNU
NOON VILLANOVA at TEMPLE ESPN NEWS

Of course you will be tuned in to watch the Buckeyes open the 2018 season against Oregon State. If/when the game becomes a blowout, you may want to keep tabs on Maryland and Texas. Last year the Terps shocked the Longhorns by upsetting strip club Herman's favored team in Austin.

A MAC/B1G match-up is also being played. Kent State has a chance to give the MAC a win over B1G. Illinois, a perennial B1G cellar dwellar might be in a dog fight against the Flashes.

SATURDAY'S 12:20 TO 3:00 GAMES
TIME GAME  CHANNEL
12:20 FURMAN at No. 2 CLEMSON ACC NET
12:30 ALCORN at GEORGIA TECH ACC VIDEO
2:00 BAKER at WILLIAM PENN ESPN 3

Nothing to see here. Other than getting a cursory scouting of Clemson. However, Furman should be an easier contest than the Tigers' spring game.

SATURDAY'S 3:30 GAMES
TIME GAME CHANNEL
3:30 APPALACHIAN STATE at No. 10 PENN STATE BTN
3:30 NORTHERN ILLINOIS at IOWA BTN ALT / BTN 2GO
3:30 No. 6 WASHINGTON vs No. 9 AUBURN (ATLANTA) ABC
3:30 TENNESSEE vs No. 17 WEST VIRGINIA (CHARLOTTE) CBS
3:30 AUSTIN PEAY at No. 3 GEORGIA ESPN
3:30 WASHINGTON STATE at WYOMING CBSSN
3:30 CENTRAL MICHIGAN at KENTUCKY ESPNU
3:30 ALBANY at PITTSBURGH ACC VIDEO

For the Big Ten homer, you can watch No. 10 Penn State battle Buckeye nation's favorite small school, Appalachian State on BTN. The other conference banger is Iowa taking on Northern Illinois.

Northern Illinois at Iowa
The Huskies have won four of their last last five games against the Big Ten. The loss was to heavily favored Ohio State in 2015. When was the last time Iowa lost a season opening game? That's right, to Northern Illinois in 2013. You might want to keep this game on your upset alert radar.

No. 6 Washington State vs. No. 9 Auburn
The big game during this time slot is the Top 10 match-up of No. 9 Auburn "hosting" No. 6 Washington. This is the first meeting between the schools and the Huskies are looking to end its nine-game losing streak to non-conference opponents ranked in the Top 10.

Tennessee vs. No. 17 West Virginia
Jeremy Pruitt, Tennessee's new head coach, has a the difficult assignment of facing Heisman candidate quarterback Will Grier in his first game. Grier has full command of Dana Holgorsen's wide open offense and the Mountaineers are going to test the Volunteers revamped defense.

SATURDAY'S 4:00 TO 7:00 GAMES
TIME GAME CHANNEL
4:00 NORTH CAROLINA at CALIFORNIA FOX
4:00 EASTERN ILLINOIS at ARKANSAS SEC NET
4:00 UNLV at No. 15 USC PAC-12 NET
4:00 UT MARTIN at MISSOURI SEC NET ALT

7:00 GRAMBLING at LOUISIANA LAFAYETTE ESPN 3
7:00 KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN at LAMAR ESPN 3
7:00 VMI at TOLEDO ESPN 3

Family Time
North Carolina against Cal, UNLV versus No. 15 USC and Cincinnati traveling to UCLA will be the best of this drek. If Chip Kelly's debut with the Bruins doesn't excite you, it might be a good time to get off the couch and say high to the family before settling in for the better games that will begin in a few hours.

SATURDAY'S 7:30 GAMES
TIME GAME CHANNEL
7:30 No. 14 MICHIGAN at No. 12 NOTRE DAME NBC
7:30 STEPHEN F. AUSTIN at BAYLOR ESPNU
7:30 MIDDLE TENNESSEE at VANDERBILT SEC NET ALT
7:30 NORTHERN ARIZONA at UTEP ESPN EXTRA
7:30 SAINT XAVIER at ILLINOIS STATE NBCSCH
7:30 STEPHEN F. AUSTIN at BAYLOR ESNPU

The only game worth noting during this time slot is the Michigan and Notre Dame tilt. If there was an asteroid to root for, this would be the game for it. Seriously though, this should be a good match[up and it's hard to believe they haven't played in four years. One coach will probably be under a lot of scrutiny around 10:30 tonight.

SATURDAY'S 8:00 PRIME TIME MATCHUPS
TIME GAME CHANNEL
8:00 AKRON at NEBRASKA FOX
8:00 No. 1 ALABAMA vs. LOUISVILLE (ORLANDO) ABC
8:00 ABILENE CHRISTIAN at BAYLOR FSN
8:00 BOWLING GREEN at OREGON PAC-12 NET

Nebraska Has A Frost Forecast
Scott Frost makes his Nebraska debut against the Zips of Akron in prime time on Fox. Will his high-octane offense from UCF translate to the plains of Lincoln? Many eyes in the Big Ten will be watching to see what the new-look Cornhuskers.

Satan Saban Travels To Disney World
The man who may have sold his soul takes his No. 1 Crimson Tide to the Land of Mickey to face Louisville. Think the Tide players will visit Disney World after the game? I don't think so either.

GAMES AFTER DARK
TIME GAME CHANNEL
10:30 UTSA at ARIZONA STATE FS1
10:45 BYU at ARIZONA ESPN
11:00 NAVY at HAWAII CBSSN

If a full day and evening of football wasn't enough, these three games will take those of you on the Right Coast into Sunday.

SUNDAY'S GAMES
TIME GAME CHANNEL
NOON NC CENTRAL vs. PRAIRIE VIEW ESPN2
7:30 No. 25 LSU vs. No. 8 MIAMI (ARLINGTON) ABC

Geaux Joe, Geaux Tigers?
Joe Burrow makes his debut in Purple and Gold. How will the former Buckeye perform in an offense that has been run heavy in the recent past? Will be interesting to see if the Tigers change their offensive philosophy and if Burrow has any receivers who can catch the ball.

MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
TIME GAME CHANNEL
8:00 No. 20 VIRGINIA TECH at No. 19 FLORIDA STATE ESPN

The Hokies and Seminoles face each other for the 27th time on Monday. FSU leads the series 23-12-1 and defeated Virginia Tech 28-22 the last time they played (2012). The first time these schools played was 1955, V-Tech won 24-20 in Tallahassee.

Useless fact of the day: With 36 straight years of playing in a bowl game, Florida State has the current longest streak in college football.

Again, this was a last-minute, patchwork piece. Will do better next week...that is if you guys want it.
