For the past 10 years, I've been using a Dell XPS 8700. 1.82 TB of storage (243 GB used). 4 GB graphics card. Intent i7-4790 CPU @3.60GHz. 16.0 GB RAM. Running Windows 10 Home, 64-bit OS, x64-based processor.
Basically, I want a computer that is faster and more stable. I do a lot of multitasking, and I also record music from time to time with a digital audio workstation. My current computer has for the most part performed those tasks well. Lately, however, I haven't been able to update the NVIDIA graphics card, and I can't upgrade to Windows 11 with my hardware. It's time to move on.
For you techies out there, do you think this is a surefire upgrade?:
Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 265 processor (20-Core, 66MB Total Cache, 1.8GHz to 5.3GHz)
Windows 11 Home
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4060Ti 8GB GDDR6
32 GB DDR5, 1 x 32 GB, 5200 MT/s
1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive
I can deal with less storage; I won't use it all. The Ultra 7 is supposed to be a better processor than my i7, but the it gives a range of 1.8GHz to 5.3GHz, whereas my i7 says "@3.60GHz." Is that something I should be concerned about in terms of worse performance?
Thank you.
