Former U.S. Sen. and astronaut John Glenn has been hospitalized, officials at the John Glenn College of Public Affairs at Ohio State University said.
Kathy Dancey, Glenn's executive assistant at OSU, said she had no further information.
Glenn had heart-valve replacement surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in 2014 and suffered a stroke, but the exact illness leading to his hospitalization has not been disclosed. His health, including his eyesight, has declined in recent years.
"Anybody who's 95, any illness is always bad," said college spokesman Hank Wilson.
Glenn was the first American to orbit the earth and became a hero and household name from that 1962 flight. He later became a Democratic U.S. senator representing Ohio
