While taking my daughter to her physical therapy appointment this morning, I was listening to Mike and Mike. They were talking with Darryl Strawberry about his time with the Mets and his struggle with addiction that nearly ruined his life. One thing that he discussed at length was the fact that he was never told NO. Which led to a lot of his problems, because he surrounded himself with the wrong people. He stated that a fool will follow another fool right into ditch and that's exactly what he did. He talked at length about how his wife's faith saved him and what difference his faith has made in his life. He's no longer trying to please people. His life now revolves around serving people through his ministry. It was a very powerful interview that got me really thinking about the current state of our society. The word NO has become a word that nobody uses anymore, because nobody likes to hear it. But we need to hear it!! Our kids need to hear it!! America we have created this problem and its up to us to fix it. Not the politicians, but the people. A lot of our problems could be solved by just saying NO!! If we don't, then we are just going to create fools, who will follow another fool right into a ditch. I'm just as guilty. I don't use the word NO enough with my kids. Which leads to my wife and I running around like crazy, taking our kids to everything under the sun. They are not out of control, but they definitely don't like to hear it.
