So my wife totaled the van, her fault.  Basically the amount they are going to pay us (assuming this amount already includes the -$500 for deductible) is a little lower than the trade in value or the value if I were to sell it to a private party.  This is my first and hopefully last time dealing with this so I'm a little confused as to how they come up with this.  If anyone could shed some light I'd really appreciate it, thanks in advance!
