I've often pondered what an athletic department/NFL franchise could do with a bottomless pit of money. There are so many great coaches out there, but what would the ultimate coaching staff look like?
I made each selection for positional coaches based upon their resume, ensuring that it's a position that they have coached before (with Special Teams Coordinator being somewhat of a wildcard). Also, note that I, in no way, factored in chemistry.
Here's what I came up with (let me know what you think):
College Football:
Head Coach: Urban Meyer (Ohio State)
Offensive Coordinator: Gus Malzahn (Auburn)
Defensive Coordinator: Nick Saban (Alabama)
Quarterbacks: Jim Harbaugh (Michigan)
Running Backs: David Shaw (Stanford)
Wide Receivers: Tom Herman (Houston)
Tight Ends: Dabo Swinney (Clemson)
Offensive Line: Les Miles (LSU)
Defensive Line: Charlie Strong (Texas)
Linebackers: Gary Patterson (TCU)
Cornerbacks: Bob Stoops (Oklahoma)
Safeties: Mark Dantonio (Michigan State)
Special Teams: Jimbo Fisher (Florida State)
NFL:
Head Coach: Bill Belichick (Patriots)
Offensive Coordinator: Sean Payton (Saints)
Defensive Coordinator: Rex Ryan (Bills)
Quarterbacks: Bill O'Brien (Texans)
Runningbacks: Chip Kelly (Eagles)
Wide Receivers: Bruce Arians (Cardinals)
Tight Ends: John Harbaugh (Ravens)
Offensive Line: Andy Reid (Chiefs)
Defensive Line: Dan Quinn (Falcons)
Linebackers: Ron Rivera (Panthers)
Cornerbacks: Pete Carroll (Seahawks)
Safeties: Mike Tomlin (Steelers)
Special Teams: Lovie Smith (Buccaneers)
