One Ring To Rule Them All

Recently, as I'm sure some none of you may have noticed, I was missing from 11W.  My wife decided that watching the NCAA tournament this year would be much more pleasant if we tried it in Hawaii.  Now, missing the tournament did sting a little, but I'll admit that watching the Bucks collapse against Arizona hurt a whole lot less drinking Mai Tais in Waikiki, then going back out to the beach.

One of the highlights of our vacation was snorkeling at Hanauma Bay (below), but more on that later.

Hanauma Bay

In 2012, Mrs. 3M was not yet, Mrs. 3M.  But, when she dropped four tickets to The Game on me for my birthday, for me and my kids, it became abundantly clear to me that I had a keeper.  Between the time of the gift, and the time of the game, a pretty sizable ring adorned her left ring finger.

Fast forward to 2014 and as we're discussing our wedding rings, I tell her what I want inscribed in my ring.  As any of you with step-children know, bonding with them can be a challenge, and I try to make sure I take interest in/notice of my step-daughter's likes and dislikes, like I do my own kids.  So, with her being a HUGE Lord Of The Rings fan, and as a joke on who's running the show in the 3M household, I told my wife to have "one ring to rule them all" engraved inside the ring.  Everybody got a good laugh out of it, and much mocking was done over who ruled whom in our house.  But, when we picked up our rings, she showed me the inscription.

So, what does snorkeling have to do with this stupid story?  Well, apparently shrinkage applies to fingers, as well...

Shrinkage

So, somewhere in Hanauma Bay lies my wedding ring...inscription and all...just waiting for a LOTR nerd to find it.  My only regret is that I can't be there to see the look on their face as they see something shiny, below, in the reef, and emerge with The Ring.

The Ring

Needless to say, it's not being held over my head at all... I just hope whoever finds my precious is a suitable owner for such power.  But, after we secured the replacement, sans inscription, I found out that a lot of people have "I lost my wedding ring" stories.  What about you, 11W?  Do you have any interesting, or funny stories about you, or your spouse, losing your ring?
