At last, it's coming back

After more than a six-year hiatus, EA Sports announced on Tuesday that it is developing a college football video game under the title "EA Sports College Football."

There's currently no release date or even a date where the release date will be announced, and it will not happen this year, but EA Sports is committed to bringing the game back and according to ESPN, is partnering with a collegiate licensing company to ensure it has things like schools, traditions, uniforms and playbooks ready to go.

According to ESPN, EA Sports will move forward without rosters that include the names, images or likenesses of real college players, in accordance with current NCAA rules. Those rules are likely to change in the next year, but the status of the game does not hinge on NIL changes – the game will be produced regardless.

The game is still in the beginning stages of production and development, but whenever it hits the shelves, it will be the first EA Sports' college football game since EA Sports' NCAA14 – back when Braxton Miller quarterbacked the Buckeyes.
