Achievement unlocked.

When we started this expedition into making college football picks while playfully mocking a known hot-take artist, we had $500 in the bank. We now have more than $500 in the bank and are coming off the fourth straight winning weekend.

Ten picks were submitted for the fifth week of the season, and we hit on six of them.

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers continue to be very good to us. Thus far we've had the defending champs covering against Auburn, Louisville, and Virginia Tech. They've pulled through each and every time. There were some quarterback questions entering the season, but those concerns have been put to rest.

The Gators pitched in and gave us a cover over Vanderbilt. We also had the over on that one, which ended up hitting as well. At least one person was especially salty about the Florida cover.

On the losing side of things, it was't too much of a surprise. We were fully expecting Alabama to destroy Ole Miss and that is precisely what happened in Tuscaloosa. The Tide rolled to a 66-3 victory and the Rebels +28 turned out to be just as silly as we thought it would. Nick Saban shows no mercy on schools that have plagued him in the past, and that theme will likely continue into this week.

We also had USC covering against Washington State, but the Cougars pulled out a three-point home win. A win for Mike Leach is a win for the world, even if it costs us $10.

Weekly reminder:

  • No analysis is involved as we are just making the opposite picks. None of this actually reflects our thoughts, opinions, or insight.
  • For now we are sticking with $10 on each line. Please note that the lines do move throughout the week.
  • Ohio State won't be included on our end.

I have some mixed feelings on this weekend's picks.

Regarding the Alabama/TAMU game, it's the same story as last week. Betting against Bama in these games just isn't a good idea in 2017. Alas, our strategy tells us to go ahead with the Aggies +26.5 and hope for the best. #ShootersShoot

LSU lost at home to Troy last week and that should probably tell you all you need to know about the Bayou Bengals. Taking them to cover on the road is a bit worrisome. Even more worrisome is the over in that game. Florida has surprised in recent weeks and actually put up some points, so perhaps that trend will continue.

Penn State destroyed the Hoosiers last weekend and now they hit the road to take on Northwestern. The Wildcats are not a good football team, so this should be easy right? This one does have a bit of a "trap game" feel to it. Not in the sense that Penn State will lose; rather just that they may be sluggish. Saquon Barkley -15 is still a pick that I like, though.

Betting on Bret Bielema is not something I ever want to do in my lifetime. Fortunately we are merely going with the total points for the Arkansas vs. South Carolina game. My favorite thing about Bert is that he has two Teacup Yorkies named Lucy and Ricky. This is the type of breed that Paris Hilton carries around in her designer purses. I am a dog lover, so I won't go any further on my #YorkieTakes.

The Oregon/Washington State game is a strange one as the line has apparently been removed. Wazzou opened as a one-point favorite, but traveling to Autzen is never an easy task. The Ducks just lost their starting quarterback for a few weeks and middle linebacker for the season. Perhaps the injuries have caused the line to be temporarily removed? Either way, we will continue to monitor and hopefully be able to get a pick in for our Ducks.

Update: We were able to get in on this one at Oregon +3.

Here's to more winning ways in college football's sixth week. #GetRich
