MENSA founder Tom Herman won an American Athletic Conference championship and dumped Florida State in his first year at Houston, but he had to literally beg fans to show up at times. In Herman's defense, it's a startling fall from 105,000+ home crowds to being unable to sellout a 40,000-seat stadium.

In Cougars fans' defense, however, it looks like they're finally waking up to the sorcerer in their midst.

From houstonchronicle.com:

The longest active streak on the University of Houston campus resides in a small office adjacent to TDECU Stadium.

Twenty-three days in a row.

You have to go back to Jan. 25 for the last time the UH ticket sales team did not have at least 100 new season-ticket purchases in a single day, a product of the football program's success in coach Tom Herman's first season and even bigger expectations for next season.

"We know at some point it's going to slow down and the streak is going to end," said Brooke Smoley, UH's associate athletic director for ticket sales and operations/chief revenue officer.

The fans are wise to enjoy him now, because there's no way a Power 5 school doesn't toss all the money at him next winter.
