NIKE LUNAR TR1 WEEK ZERO COLLECTION

Nike Lunar TR1 ‘Ohio State Buckeyes’

For $120, you can be the owner of these ridiculously sleek, Ohio State-themed shoes from Nike.

The athletic apparel conglomerate unveiled their Lunar TR1 Week Zero Collection (sounds cryptic), and the results are phenomenal. The Lunars launch to the public on August 27th.

Here are some other shots of the shoe:

I have to have a pair of these

I'm thinking the same, and I buy shoes once every three years.

Same, and it's usually just basketball shoes. But I'm already justifying the expense for these in my mind.

Sold.

I'm in. Not a sneaker/shoe guy at all but I'd likely buy a turd if it had and Ohio State logo on it.

hate to say this but ours are the worst of the lot

and if this doesnt convince you that we need an actual logo rather than warmed over 90s crap, welp. seriously, just look at the simplicity and clean lines of all the other logos. yeesh

20sider's picture

100% absolutely agree. As an alum, I have watched this logo carry on for some time. Time for it to be filed away. We have a great sleek and simple option available to us that instantly says Ohio State and embodies the great tradition of the university. If you guessed Block O, you're a winner!

GO BUCKS!

Absolutely.  The Block O would make this shoe instantly superior in that lineup

WeAllBleedScarlet's picture

My thoughts, exactly.  I always look for simple Block O gear, and I prefer the "O" without the extra thin border (ie: my logo)

WeAllBleedScarlet's picture

Obviously, I didn't look at my own logo (which DOES feature the thin outline) before making that comment.

+1 HS
ibuck's picture

Yes, the current logo is garish, IMO. I favor the 1968 Block O with the Buckeye leaf in the lower right that distinguishes Ohio State from Oregon and Oklahoma, etc. Classic & elegant.

I also like this determined Brutus.

Our honor defend, we will fight to the end !

If you can't win your conference, just quietly accept your non-playoff bowl game.

+1 HS
Urbz4President's picture

I have the 1968 logo tattooed on my left arm. So I completely agree with this statement.

+1 HS
Johnny Ginter's picture

that's the best logo by a mile, and the best part is that it's not something that will look embarrassingly out of style due to a font or whatever like the current one

Completely agree.

OSU branding is moving away from the old academic logo to just a simple Block O, I'd love to see that on these instead of the horrendously outdated athletics logo.

When I walked in this morning and saw the flag was at half mast I thought, "Alright, another bureaucrat ate it." but then I saw it was Li'l Sebastian. Half mast is too high. Show some damn respect.

+7 HS
Jabba the Hoke's picture

Athletic Department ate the only ones still using the old logo, if I'm not mistaken.

I_Run_The_Dave's picture

I would say that UT is the worst of the lot -- although their shoe does an excellent job of keeping the same look and feel as their white uniforms, they are both (the shoe and the uni) incredibly plain and aren't really attractive.

As for ours, the added "buckeye leaf flair" is a nice touch that isn't visible from the front.  Would ours be perfect with a block O instead of the "new" OSU logo?  Yes.  Yes, they would.

+2 HS
BuckToAsT's picture

I disagree. I love that logo--it's plastered all over my basement.  That is, by the way the athletic logo.  The academic logo is the seal, which is also sweet.

Dont get me wrong, I love the simplicity of the block O, and agree that it would have looked great on these kicks.  However, I simply love our full athletic logo.  It's the shining star of the 'Shoe.

+4 HS
BuckToAsT's picture

Also, how can you say ours are the worst? OU's and Bama's look like wal-mart brand bowling shoes.

+4 HS
thePhilipJFry's picture

That Florida State shoe begs to differ.

But going from the current logo to the block O with a buckeye leaf would be a change I could get behind.

Byaaaahhh's picture

I wholeheartedly disagree. The tongue of these shoes are extremely unflattering with the fringe around the outside and cheap leather slits. Our logo is traditional, but not outdated. The others are simplistic, which is attractive in its own way, but in no way better.

+3 HS
ISURVIVEDCOOPER's picture

I still remember when we switched to this new athletic logo, and I didn't like it then, and I still don't like it now.  They need an overhaul, and with the revenue we have been bringing in through football and basketball, you'd think there would be some discussion on this investment.

I got the ones from last year that I will never wear. Just going to hold onto them forever. I think they were a better design although these are not bad at all. I recommend any sneaker collectors grab a pair of these as they do increase in value quickly. I just did a custom OSU design of my own on a pair of nike running shoes on their website that I'm pretty happy about & will be wearing during every game this year...

As your self proclaimed Eleven Warriors Sneakerologist (I am a collecting freak), I approve of these. They don't look nearly as good as the SC Trainers (Bo Jacksons, see below) that came out last fall, BUT, the Lunarlon sole is EXTRAORDINARILY comfortable. I have them on a pair of Flyknit Lunar 1s and it is the most comfortable shoe I own. Which says A LOT.

Yup, ebay. However, I'm a size 13 and the cheapest that I saw (recently) was $250. Size 13 is relatively hard to come by in the sneaker world, considering they make so few of them as opposed to sizes 9-11.

I know City Gear restocked them a couple of weeks back for like $60 SHIPPED. That went very quickly.

And then I told her...i'm no weatherman, but tonight's forecast is calling for several inches!

+2 HS

nike has different shoes for different tasks.  these are from my understanding designed more as a cross-trainer and not so much to be a "running shoe"  that is reserved more for the pegasus.  maybe you just tried a bad shoe?  or maybe a long time ago?

hit_the_couch's picture

Nah, IMHO,Asics, Brooks Mizuno and Saucony are far more superior in terms of a running shoe. Maybe they just work better with my foot type, stride and running style.

And then I told her...i'm no weatherman, but tonight's forecast is calling for several inches!

According to this picture, the Pac-12 only gets one team with shoes, as does the ACC.
B1G, Big-12, ans SEC all have two teams getting the shoes. I trust Nike's wisdom that the Pac12 and ACC aren't the best conferences this year.

Not trying to be a homer but OSU's would easily be the best in the lot if only it went with a block-0 on the tongue. Followed by MSU and Oregon. Georgia's look pretty tight like something they would actually wear on the field.

And yes, FSU, Bama, and OU look like some ugly bowling shoes.

I just can't do themed sneakers.  That's just me and my preferences.  Most of the sneaks I buy are some combination of scarlet, grey, black and white, anyway.  Still, they look pretty slick.  Would prefer the block O to the out-dated, current design.  I would definitely buy these for my boy, though if under $80.

EDIT2:  I have heard these are available through other non-Nike stores ... where else that I can buy online?  Anyone know?

Struck out :( Couldn't find 13s anywhere. For those looking Nike, Eastbay, Champs and team shop have other sizes.

buckeyefanatic's picture

I'll be honest ... I had three systems up and running, on different service providers, waiting for the store sale to start. Followed the tweeted link by NDC and watched the timer count down to zero. Had three pairs (one on each system) all in my carts with 2-3 seconds.  I only got one pair. It's a fucking lottery. I got a second backup pair off of feeBay for nearly double retail. :S

Champs, official OSU store and Buckeye Corner all sold out of 13s very fast as well. Buckeye Corner did sell me a pair of 12.5 which will fit me but I am pretty sure Nike didn't even release those. So I think that is a mistake that I will get a refund on.

Next year, I recruit more people, setup more NDC accounts and get mine at retail.
