It could never happen, but playing and beating a certain team 3 times in a row would be sweet. The demoralizing value on them would be almost as wonderful as the championship.
May you R.I.P. Otsego, but know this. Gaylord Rocks!
Sure would be great if it did happen.
LSU, Florida, or Georgia.
I want whomever is the SEC champ.
I say this^, I want them to beat the snot out of who ever the "world" says is the (second) best team. I hope it is a ESS EEE see team to make it that much sweeter
"What is our aim, I can tell you in one word. Victory" Winston Churchill
This for sure. Or, Arkans-hahahaha that'll never happen.
Need to exact our revenge on Florida before I die.
The Ohio State University Class of 2001

^ So this. Bring on Florida. I would love to see the tears flowing from Bianchi and Hayes after we curb stomp them.
Texas A&M or Texas because I had to deal with their fans when I lived in Texas. Other than them two, I guess Florida for revenge, LSU for revenge and Bama. Second tier would be Oregon, USC for revenge, and Nortre Dame but then they are no big deal considering we beat them the last 3 times we played them. That team up north would be awesome to play for the National Championship but then we beat them all the time....lol
Generally speaking... Longhorn fans are awful.
Class of 2008
HAH...THANK YOU!!!...I've been saying this ever sense I got on here and it seemed like nobody agreed with me!
Got to go with Texas A&M. This way we can watch the current Heisman trophy winner smash last year's Heisman trophy winner! Would love to see Braxton show Johnny football how it's done!
Stainford, I still hate them for the 1971 Rose Bowl. GO BUCKS!
I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then.
Arkansas. Doubtful it ever happens but would enjoy it.
I'd love to avenge the Florida or LSU losses that started this whole SEC narrative.
You took the words right out of my mouth! Seriously, how is LSU and Florida not on this list?
Now I'm hungry.
Meatloaf? Come on man, I expected more. Go big or go home!
Just remember...today's meatloaf is tomorrow's sloppy joe.
"It's just another case of there you are". ~ Doc (1918-2012)
I hastily picked Notre Dame, because I hate them. Then I realized I'd rather them have a 3-9 season instead.
Florida, for obvious reasons
"I learned to dislike Michigan at a very young age.” – Urban F. Meyer
I'd say Alabama first, then Florida the next year.
Texas A&M gives us a chance to beat an sec team and the most obnoxious college football player ever
Still not giving a damn for the whole state of Michigan.
Brian Bosworth doesn't play for A&M
Yes, definitely Florida
Wherever you are, there you be!
Understand ppl wanting FL. I could just see that storyline buildup though. No thank you.
I went ND for two reasons;
1.) ND is my second favorite team to beat
2.) IF ND is there then the whole SEC dominance thing is put to bed. IF the SEC champ were to be in the NCG and lose to us, - It's great for tOSU, but the SEC narrative continues, and is played off as just one loss, but still in the NCG....
Not this year. After the playoffs, maybe, but if it's two non-SEC teams now everyone will just say that the a 1 or 2-loss SEC team *should* have been in the game.
Other = Florida
To me it has to be an SEC school for full validation
Georgia or LSU.
USC, for the 1973 Rose Bowl. Otherwise, LSU or Florida would be the team I'd like to see OSU play for a NC. Paybacks for all of 'em.
I voted ND just to see if we could beat them worse than Bama did. I know it's a simpleton response too, but I don't care who we play, as long as we're playing for (and winning) that crystal football.
Braxton Miller showing up and shutting up Johnny Manziel... yes please. "Braxton Football" will become a college football legend and a statue of this cool, poised, level headed student athlete will be erected on campus.
Time and change will surely show how firm they friendship... O-HI-O.
"Peetah, he said 'erected'. Aren't you gonna' say somethin'?"
Life's daily struggle is choosing between saying F--ck-it, or soldiering on with your responsibilities.
Florida. The SEC reign would come full circle and finally end at the hands of the man who first began it. That and I hate Florida (the team not the state).
To finally have a good memory of Ohio State against them.
Florida. The storylines and buildup would be unbelievable.
A&M. Let J.Football make all the off-field news during the hype-up period before the game.
In old Ohio there's a team that's known throughout the land...
LOL at the idea of Clemson playing for the title... they'll have to get by Wake Forest and Duke first.
I'd go with an SEC East foe; Florida & Georgia seem like realistic possibilities, perhaps even SC.
If we do go undefeated I do believe that we will play Clemson. For some reason I think that Clemson makes it to the game this year if they don't pull a Clemson and lose one they shouldn't. I think Alabama falls to someone and the media somehow leaves a one loss SEC team out of the championship. "Inconceivable" I know.
I picked texas a&m would love to see the buckeyes d give johnny football nightmares
I would love to play TX A&M but I tend to think it will be Clemson or FSU if it's not an SEC team.
Some people think we’re the hunted.I don’t feel that way at all. We’re the hunter.Everybody wants an angry football team.Everybody wants a team on edge and a hungry team.If you’re a hunter, that usually equates to being hungry.
Other, I don't want to validate any other program that MIGHT be able to become a national power. I'd rather see an LSU, who will always recruit well, so we can beat an SEC team and not empower anyone else.
I picked ND so my friend Ben Nelson can Cry Irish for another year.
Florida, simply because that would be poetic justice. Murdering Will Muschump and Gators would actually satisfy me more than a blowout win against Alabama.
...I too dream in color and in rhyme
So I guess I'm one of a kind in a full house
Cause whenever I open my heart, my soul or my mouth
A touch of God rains out...
TAM. Gives us the chance to preserve Archie's record 2 Heismans.
Isn't Heisman voting before the National Championship game?
Yep. Brainfart on my part.
Florida Gaturds. I want to beat Will Muschump and remind him again of NCAA rules. I want to see their fanbase's butthurt increase exponentially, especially for a certain three ignorant asshole sportswriters.
Class of 2010.
As long as its a member of team ESE EEE SEE, thats all that matters. Gotta get this gorilla off our backs and turn The Tide.
Nothing like dancing on the field in 02...
Florida or LSU, if not Bama
I chose "Other" b/c as long as we make it to the game, I don't care who we play.
"You pick up the rifle and go as hard as you can possibly go."
I voted the Irish.... but I'd be just as happy to b-slap the Gators and even the score.
Is it football season yet?
Good thing I have this amazing 2013 Ohio State magazine that 11W has bestowed upon us. If I didn't then this week would be torture.
I would LOVE to play Florida.
That being said, I don't think it will be them.
I have Oregon going undefeated and playing undefeated Ohio State in the NCG.
Alabama will lose to Texas A&M early on and then Johnny Manziel will fall apart and crash and burn after that.
Bama will run the rest of the table to get to the SEC championship and then people (ESPN) will start to question whether they should get in over an undefeated OSU or Oregon if they win.
Well they don't win and lose to a 2 loss Florida team.
Oh and ND loses 3 games - Michigan, Pitt and Stanford.
You heard it here first folks.
The first man gets the ((((Oyster)))), the second man gets the shell.
I could definitely see that happening. If that all happens then you would have earned a cookie for sure.
I would probably quit my job and become a psychic if all of this happens.
If Pitt beats 'em, no doubt, quit & get a hotline. Just remember to pay taxes!!!
I was thinking the same thing but I think the team that we will see is Clemson, only because Oregon has a new coach. I know it worked for us last year but it could easily have gone a different direction in quite a few games. There is a lot of talent in the Pac12 that Oregon would have to overcome.
Why is everyone hating A&M? Our boys have already put them in their place..... twice:
First butt-whoopin' was in the 1987 Cotton.
Second was one of John Cooper's finer moments in the 1999 Sugar.
I'm not worried about them.
I'd love to watch the Silver Bullets turn "Johnny Football" into just "Johnny"
Anybody that downvotes that is a non-Buckeye troll.
Bet you can't say "Bert Bielma is a bumbling buffoon" five times fast.
i know this is highly unlikely, but I would love to beat the snot out of that punk little coach at USC. I hate Kiffin and everything he stands for. If somehow he manages to learn how to coach overnight, then this could happen. iM not holding my breath though.
O-H-I-O for life
LSU....because I live and work in Louisiana. LSU fans are the WORST and truly believe no other football is played outside the SEC. The also never remember when they lose. They also think they have been good for 100 years.
Unfortunately the Buckeyes have reinforced their superiority complex. I would delight in evening the score and changing the perception.
What's funny is they believe we are now contenders because UM coached in the SEC where he learned how to play real football which automatically makes us faster, tougher, and competitive.
I hope the football Gods read this comment.
Death to the SEC!
Thank you sir! May I have another?
LSU. Revenge factor. SEC factor. And beating a 'Michigan Man' factor.
Only reason I picked A&M over any of the other teams is because of Manziel. It'd be great to watch him and Braxton (not literally but their teams) go head to head, especially if (when) Braxton becomes the newest Buckeye to win the Heisman.
Shazier meet Johnny, Johnny meet the last thing youll see on this earth.
Comment of the day!
Seems to be a SEC down-vote Troll in the thread, corrected as many as I could.
yup, definitely is
went back through to help out also
I know there's a game Saturday, and my ass will be there.
Explanation: 2006 was my freshman year of college.
From the list, A&M. To shut JF the F up.
Not from the list, Florida. After they demolish Alabama to win the SEC. The butthurt out of that state would sustain me for decades.
Their tears would be oh so delicious
I would love to play Oregon, just because the offenses would be so much fun to watch. Second would be A&M if Miller wins the Heisman, just for the fact two Heisman winning QBs would be playing each other. After that I would go off the list and say Florida, simply for the storylines and for some serious revenge.
Blessed? I didn't know Cheezus picked the MNC title game participants.
If you would have typed, "Hey-Zeus", would have come Aye-Cross so much better!!!
Could you imagine the build up and hype surrounding a NC game between possibly the last 2 heisman winners?
Couldn't we beat TTUN a 3rd time in a row? Suspend disbelief just a litte.
Scenario, TTUN goes into The Game solidly ranked #1, they've rolled over everybody all season long, OSU is ranked lower, but not too low. Must be in a position to get into the B1G championship with a victory, while TTUN is guaranteed in the BIG. Game #1, OSU wins by a 2 point conversion in like the 5th OT.
B1G championship....OSU wins another squeaker. Maybe some controversy. All other candidate schools lose, or look bad in that final week. After this game, OSU is #1, TTUN is shockingly #2.
NCAA championship...OSU rolls 56-0. 5th year seniors sets record for most golden pants of 6.
If they didn't play each other after the 06' game then it ain't happening unless said scenario involves them switching conferences over to the SEC and the same results occur. You know, becoming an SEC member delivers immediate benefits.
Stanford vs tOSU would be a great matchup
Brady Hoke ate my comment
Florida or LSU. If we play Florida it would feel great if we won 41-14.
I'd prefer 82-7. That would give me a better feeling of closure.
Florida because f*ck Florida.

3. Enter any other SEC team
The SEC run begins and ends with Urban Meyer. Poetry at its finest.
We should strive to keep thy name, of fair repute and spotless fame...
(Also, I'm not a dude)
Florida. It's the matchup we have to face..
I want it to be an SEC team, but not TA&M. I don't want them to have a good year.
Yea I agree with most here, the Florida debacle is probably the worst day of my (sports following) life... I was never so confident, and so disappointed in a span of 3 hours... Also think it would be nice to start and end the SEC dynasty with a rematch...
If not Florida, another SEC school... would hate to beat Fla St or Oregon and have everyone say we wouldn't have won if we played an SEC school who ends the season ranked #3...
I hate saban and that stupid "Roll Tide" BS. I want Ohio State to embrace them. I also hate Florida but I hate them so much I hope they lose every game. For ever.
I think I'm gonna choose who ever the opponent is. Just go win
LSU. It gives us the ultimate combination of getting revenge on a SEC team coached by a *ichigan-Man
"...but then again 'Michigan' and 'huge mistake' are synonymous so that shouldn't have been much of a surprise to anybody." - Mark Titus
he's a michigan man but a buckeye at heart. He was born and raised in my hometown, so I cant hate too much on him. Its not his fault he wasnt good enough to play at OSU and had to settle for TSUN.
Florida, USC before any on that list for sure.
LSU or Florida. Florida, to shut Muschamps mouth right up, OR LSU to get some sweet revenge. Basically, whomever is the SEC champ. I want to tear down the SECs reign of dominance in a very violent way...Go Buckeyes!
"There's nothing that cleanses your soul like getting the hell kicked out of you." -Woody Hayes-
It has to be an SEC school. The Bucks would not get as much respect if it wasn't . Also, it would go a long way in what hopefully would be a slow down of SEC domination. But in my opinion it has to be a traditional SEC school; so aside from Alabama it'd have to be Georgia,Florida, or LSU. I still don't see A&M as a SEC school yet and I'm not sure the media does. Plus, a good portion of the fun of beating a SEC school would be sticking it to their fans and I'm not certain A&M fans have the annoyance factor as longer tenured SEC schools have.
SEC UNIVERSITY PLEASE
I vote USC, still for me the Great White Whale for Ohio State. There is something really special about seeing those two squads face off ( kind of like Yankees, Dodgers or Steelers ,Cowboys or Lakers, Celtics, it just seems right for a championship.) If Ohio State beats an undefeated USC team in a game played in the Rose Bowl it will be all the validation they need. The heck with the sec, for me they are beneath contempt.
don't you mean #blessed?
A&M to shut Manziel up, and yes, I refuse to call him "Johnny Football" or a freshman because they're both BS.
Don't give up... Don't ever give up.
Michigan because beating their asses 3 times in one year would be the shit.
Every time I set my DVR to record Biggest Loser......It always records Wolverine Football Games!
I picked other because I'd like to play Florida. Imagine the melt down if buckeyes were to win that game.
If not Alabama, then Florida or LSU. I want to crush an SEC powerhouse.
"Evil shenanigans!" - Mac
Any team from Oklahoma

"Making the Great State of Ohio Proud!" UFM
Whoever wins the SEC. Only way Ohio State fully legitimizes itself as a national power is going to be by taking down whoever wins the SEC. Beating anyone else will leave open the argument that the SEC is still king and they got screwed over by the BCS and how tough their schedules are.
WHY IS NOTRE DAME IN SECOND PLACE? THEY SHOULD BE LOWER.
It's not a poll about who deserves to be there, but who would you want Ohio State to play and then beat (the shit out of them). A&M carries it because of the Johnny Football intrigue and we want to show Braxton is better, but ND carries a large amount of hate from our fan base and many people would love it if we beat the tar out of them in the national championship game. Again, it doesn't mean anyone thinks they really deserve to be there, but most just want to beat them to rub in some ND fans' faces.
I appreciate you giving a legitimate response to an all caps comment. Haha. Certainly doesn't deserve one.
With that said, my question could have instead read, "why the hell do Buckeye fans still carry such animosity--or significant feeling of any kind--towards ND?"
I'm in my 20's, and for most of my sporting fan life Notre Dame football has been largely irrelevant. We owned them with Eddie, we beat them in the Fiesta, they got rocked by LSU, and they are finally looking competent under Kelly. For the past 20+ years though they frankly haven't been good enough to inspire any hate in me towards them. Mild annoyance? Sure. Hate? No.
That, and playing and beating them in a title game after the 2013 season probably wouldn't do anything to shut SEC fans up.
So, I'll ask again, WHY IS NOTRE DAME SECOND IN THIS POLL? Haha
I was kind of like Brick there and didn't know what you were yelling about, but my point was kind of alluded to instead of just spelled out...it's the fans. Most can't stand ND fans. The same way many outsiders view OSU fans as annoying and myopic is the same way many also view ND fans. Right or wrong, that's seemingly how it is. It seems to come with the large fan bases - the larger the fan base, the more noticeable/vocal they are, and the easier it is to dislike them. Relevant or not on the field, their fan base is still large and remains intact and remains very vocal.
Coming from a large Irish Catholic family (there are plenty of OSU fans, like myself, along with a handful of us who went to OSU), there probably isn't a fanbase that hates us more than ND. That is unless you count the entire SEC as one great big, low standard university and UM. So the hate definitely works the other way too.
We have some payback to dish out to Florida and LSU. And I do want to play and beat an SEC team!
Arkansas because Bert hates losing to "THE" Buckeyes and that crazy chick who likes to make Karoake YouTube videos of Bert should come up with something even more freaking twisted- I WANT THIS !!!!!!!!!!!
There are winners and there are losers, and then there are "THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY"
Oh wait, they suck.
"The height of human desire is what wins, whether it's on Normandy Beach or in Ohio Stadium." -Wayne Woodrow Hayes
I know I'll get down votes or whatever for this but.
I want to play ND because I think they are the most beatable.
I hate Michigan but they are in our conf so we already get to manhandle them at least once.
I recently started hating Florida, but w/o Meyer and his recruits they are ready to crash and burn under Muschamp.
I've hated Bama for the last 5 yrs b/c of shear domination. But I can admit Saban is a great coach.
BUT....USC.... I Fkn hate those arrogant fks. I would love nothing more than Kiffin to think he's a great coach, with a great team...only to play us and get smacked in the mouth. I want a 42-0, 49-14 type victory. I HATE KIFFIN and USC. Fk them both!
