Bad news tonight out of Pickerington Central as it was announced four-star Ohio State basketball recruit Jae'Sean Tate has torn his labrum and will miss the rest of his senior season of high school basketball.

The highly-touted small forward is a key cog in Thad Matta's 2014 recruiting class. We wish him the best on his road to recovery.

I don't know why, but I blame Tom Crean

No, no, a Tom Crean is when you strain your Labia...

Nearly choked on my sandwich on that one.

God speed, young man!

On the aside, I'm currently blaming Tom Crean for both the shitty weather and my balding.

The good thing is the labrum isn't that big of a deal if dealt with properly. Had mine done a few years ago. While it will never be perfect, with the right therapy, he will be back and better than ever come next year.

How firm thy friendship..

I hope he heals up ok.  I had surgery on my labrum last January and its still not quite 100%.

Big blow for Pick Central....they were poised to make another run deep in the state tourney with him....without him they will still go decently far but he is the x-factor for them.....hopefully he heals up well and gets at it next year with the bucks, we really need him to come in ready to go as well as the other freshman next year

Wow.  Tough break for both him and his team.  Hope he will heal quickly enough to be able to get back into playing at his high level before October.  Good Luck to him!

My son dislocated his shoulder and tore his labrum this past football season. He had surgery and the doc said it would be 6 months until he was released with no restrictions. Here's hoping for a smooth and speedy recovery for Jae'Sean.

We've seen Tate play a lot over the last few years.  He has a state championship from when he was an underclassman at Pick Central, which was the team that Caris LaVert (currently at ttun) was on as well.  This year's Pick Central team still has Conner Kern (relative of Rex Kern) who is an Arizona State signee in basketball and there is some other good talent there as well.  Jerry Francis has been head coach there for a few years now and has built the program up very well.  Ohio State is getting a real athletic and skilled basketball player in Tate, whose father is Jermaine Tate.  There is also at least one younger Tate brother, who I believe that ttun has already offered, and who can play a little bit as well.

I think that Jae'Sean will come back better than ever from this.  He plays above the rim, can run the floor, has great hands and court vision, can shoot and pass.  He can create his own shot and create for his teammates, and is unselfish.  He has had some packed stat lines in games, not just points but steals, rebounds, assists.  Buckeye fans will enjoy watching Tate play.  I know that I have.

Kern is signed to Arkansas State I believe and unless Tate's little brother got astronomically better from last year there is no way he has any D1 offers. When they played Gahanna in the district championship last year he was doing such a poor job of bringing the ball up the court against pressure that they made Jae'Sean play point the rest of the game
