So there was a commenting discussion on one of the most recent articles, and I thought it was so hilarious that we should revisit the idea. That is, the psychological comparison of recruiting for a coach to bagging a hot chick. If you're still reading, the parallels are endless and really, really, weirdly productive in comparison.

So a lot of us played football in high school, and/or had our way with the ladies at one time or another. If you did both, well that's nice. But how similar are the dynamics between selling yourself to a woman and a player? And then how similar is it keeping them both happy? And the biggest question of them all - Is Urban drowning in the poon?

Seriously though, the pressure of landing Raekwon McMillan last year would make approaching Kate Hudson seem like ordering a big mac.

So, I posted that great classes don't just happen by chance, explaining why we're starting out slow in this year's class - Urban's emphasis on putting together a GREAT class last year. We put a lot of chips into last year's class, and certainly somewhat at the expense of this class. So Urban went after his dream girl - and he got her. What's funny is that keeping in perfect line with the analogy, the dream girl is keeping us from landing blue-chippers early in this class. Is that because the new pretty girl wants to feel more special than the old pretty girl? Yep. But fortunately for us, we can control that. Translated - last year's class is keeping us from grabbing the early blue-chips, but as we approach NSD, that pretty girl is making us look more attractive. If you a hoe lookin fo a pimp, look at the pimp's hoes.

Secondly, the recruiting cycle doesn't happen in a one-year time frame. That means often times a coach has as much communication with his senior prospects as his sophomore/junior prospects. It all depends on the talent level + fit of that particular player. A pimp has to keep his hoes in line: age of the hoe is insignificant to how that hoe make a pimp feel.

Look at *ichigan, (Brady Hoke, a pimp. Hahahaha) their last 4 classes have had pretty nice cumulative point totals. Has that translated to any on field production?

No, because they are simply taking the "hot girl" and enjoying their time with her before they inevitably fudge things up. Either that or they're taking 5 "2s" in place of one "10." A pimp gotta have faith in his pimpin. Keep ya backhand strong.

Urban doesn't just take the "hot girl" because he considers himself lucky. He takes the hot girl, breaks her into submission, and has her making him sandwiches by week 2. And then more hot girls are fighting over him because they see how hot his current girl is.

It's about respect, self-respect, and sense of purpose when you gon' be a pimp on these streets... or recruit for an elite university.
