Last week, I asked if the College Football Playoff rankings served as a signal to the AP voters that Clemson should be the No. 1 team in the country. This week, the Coaches Poll followed the lead of the AP and the College Football Playoff rankings. Clemson is the new Coaches Poll No. 1.

Baylor and Stanford constitute the big losers in this week's Coaches Poll. Baylor's home loss to Oklahoma dropped the Bears seven spots in the Coaches Poll from No. 3 last week. Oklahoma leapfrogged Baylor and is now the No. 7 team among the coaches (rather, their SIDs).

Stanford dropped from No. 7 to No. 15. The home loss to Oregon denied Stanford a chance to clinch the Pac-12 North (though that could still happen next week at home against California). Oregon's upset loss jumped the Ducks to No. 22. Washington State crashed the Coaches Poll for the first time this season with a road win at UCLA. The Cougars sit at No. 23.

The Big Ten actually leads all conferences with six teams in the Coaches Poll. The SEC and Pac-12 each have five squads in the Coaches Poll, though it's worth noting that two SEC teams (Ole Miss and Mississippi State) are tied for 25th this week. The Big Ten features three teams in the top ten, tied with the Big 12 for the most.
