I gave up reading ESPN and Sporting News online years ago, about the same time I found this awesome website. Never looked back.
It's easy to find magazines, websites and ESPN that rip on OSU and the B1G(sometimes rightly so), so I just don't bother even perusing them anymore, unless there is a link somewhere for them on 11W.

I too gave up on ESPN. I dont mind valid discussions and criticisms of my team with reasonable fans of other teams- some of my daily football discussions are with a Notre Dame fan, a Florida fan, an LSU fan, and a West Virginia fan.
I just dont like when people bash without making valid points. That's why I stopped watching Sports Center and Gameday. Too much bashing for the sake of ratings and too much groupthink.
I had a subscription to Sporting News and cancelled that also about the same time. Forgot about them.

I had an "Insider" account with ESPN and got the magazine. I subscribed to SI for over 25 years. Both got dumped after the "Busted" issue and the rigged raffle article. I thought I would really miss both but I really don't.

As someone that enjoys reading the site without a tremendous amount of jawing, I hope this doesn't change the site as far as content. Have noticed a few forum topics getting kind of watered down and random. May not be an issue and I hope it isn't. I will always look here for info no matter what as everyone at 11W does a fantastic job and it is appreciated.
Changing the familiar can make one antsy. Putting that coffee table in the middle of the room after a few years elsewhere sure put a few bruises on my shins in the middle of the night. But we like it there much better.
Our two resident TTUN fans with a good showing. I don't see any real suprises here, and I like having the comparison to how poorly I am doing :)

In comparison, it's like I play flag football...but not in the A group, but maybe the B group. Actually, quite fitting because usually I'm just watching everyone else comment here while I sit as a fan.

If that means that people are crafting superb comments, than I--for one--really hope to see that.
If it means that people are merely commenting for the sake of their helmet sticker total, then we'll probably have a problem.
I have faith in the eleven-dub community, though. Good discussion is always a click away.

Definately, I for one rarely commented, but I want to be able to vote. And now that I am in the habit of commenting, I expect I'll do more of it. In the end, I think we will have more people in the discussion rather than just reading. And I have faith in my fellow Buckeyes that the comments will add to rather than simply be comments for a sticker.
If crafting superb comments is what you're looking for Hodge, I'm doomed. HAHA!
I agree with your commenting for the sake of helmet sticker totals though. Now we're going to see a bunch of people just posting willy-nilly on here and could possibly dilute the talented scribe skills of this beloved blog. Kind of like the NBA. If there is an exponential increase in stupid comments, hopefully it's just going to be a honeymoon phase for most and return to normal in the next few weeks.

I do about 90% of my commenting at work...but frankly there is only so much cooking, cleaning, working out you can do on a 24 hour shift in a firehouse when there's no fires respond to.

Frankly, he's not that trollish as far as I could tell. I've seen a lot worse. Don't know why you're so bent out of shape. But his name is apparently Bukfan? Not Buckfan, as you originally wrote.

It's a stretch. I mean, there are a half-dozen people here named Jake or Jakebuckeye or Jason or BuckeyeJason or JasonBuckeye or what-have-you. I can't keep all of them straight half the time.
Anyway, I'll keep an eye out, but I don't think people around here in general are confused about it. As you can see from the join dates, I'm fairly well-tenured (even if it's with a zero on the respect meter).

Gotta admit I was a tiny bit skeptical of the idea at first. However after watching in action and not seeing people abuse it, I'm a big fan. In 11W I trust.

I used to live on this site! I was surprised to see so many stickers. Damn new job and having to actually be productive getting in the way. I may not post as much but I still read every day, 6 or 7 times a day.
If someone could explain to me what helmet stickers are that would be great, anyway I have 22 of them so woo hoo to me.
