Michigan State Suspends Max Bullough For the Rose Bowl

This bizarre story broke last night. From the AP:

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State has suspended senior linebacker Max Bullough for violating team rules, making him ineligible to play in the Rose Bowl.

Coach Mark Dantonio said in a news release early Thursday morning that Bullough was suspended for the rest of the season. He did not say what rules Bullough violated and said there will be no further comment.

... Bullough is a two-time team captain who had 76 tackles this season and 299 career tackles. He also was named a third-team All-American and first-team All-Big Ten this season.

That's a devastating blow to Sparty. Middle Linebacker is probably the defensive spot MSU could least afford to lose heading into their matchup with power-oriented Stanford.

Sigh ... bummer for MSU and the B1G's chances to do well in the bowl season.  They may be six foot plus 200 pound plus muscled up elite athletes but they're still kids.  I know I did my fair share of stupid things at that age in terms of inappropriate partying.  If it involves bullying behavior then no sympathy from me on that front.  The particulars will slowly but surely emerge I'm sure.

Yikes... Gives the phrase "Sparty gonna Spart" a whole new meaning this year. Kudos to Coach D for putting discipline first, I guess? (Considering that we have no clue what "violation of team rules" actually means in this case.)

It's been a while since I've been able to say this, but SPARTY NO!

A team captain isn't supposed to let his team down.
Too bad, I can't stand Stanford.

Yep, the bowl season is all set up for another great year by the BIG. 0-2 so far right (no Gardner, no Bullough)? So much for ever shutting up the media and SEC homers.

Taylor Lewan assaults someone in the street and Coach Flintstone is letting him play. That's what a michigan man does.
