Down Goes Louisville

By Jason Priestas on October 19, 2013 at 3:39a

After jumping out to a 28-7 third quarter lead, Louisville's defense went to sleep, allowing UCF to rally for a 38-35 road win, the last of the Knights' points coming on a 2-yard pass from Blake Bortles to Jeff Godfrey with 23 seconds remaining.

And that's how No. 8 Louisville was bounced from the national championship derby, sonny.

Another undefeated goes down! 13 undefeateds left, I wonder how many others will fall this weekend? Miami already survived by scoring two late TDs despite Morris' four picks in the game, I think it's only a matter of time before they fall.
BYU (4-2) @ Houston (5-0)
#5 FSU (5-0) @ #3 Clemson (6-0)
#16 TTech (6-0) @ WVU (3-3)
UNLV (4-2) @ #17 Fresno (5-0)
#23 NIU (6-0) @ CMU (3-4)
Iowa (4-2) @ #4 OSU (6-0)
#22 UF (4-2) @ #14 Missouri (6-0)
WSU (4-3) @ #2 Oregon (6-0)
#9 UCLA (5-0) @ #13 Standford (5-1)
Arkansas (3-4) @ #1 Alabama (6-0)
ISU (1-4) @ #12 Baylor (5-0)
I'm predicting Clemson, Houston, & UCLA to all fall this weekend.

I guess Penn State doesn't look so bad losing to them after all, although losing at home is always a crime.

And Iowa/NIU. Orrr Nebraska/UCLA?

I dunno though. These are the type of home wins that the B1G absolutely has to actually start winning in order to change national perception. 'Good losses' need to migrate to the 'W' column.

I was half being tongue-in-cheek when I typed that.  National perception will only change from BCS wins over SEC teams, unfortunately.  Otherwise, where we are at, it will always have the look of the other teams not being as good as thought as opposed to B1G teams being better than thought.
I've seen a lot of posts lately about how the SEC isn't as good as the eye test might suggest, looking at results in the regular season and bowl games over the last few years.  But compare (bowl) games to a guy trying to pick up a woman in a bar (not trying to be sexist, just trying to convey a point):  the SEC might strike out on the 7 or 8 every so often, but they always land the 10.
We need the 10 at this point as a conference.  Nothing else will do.  That burden lies on us.  My point is, while I understand we could have trouble playing for it all because the B1G stinks, I don't think Nebraska losing to UCLA matters all that much.  We're in the hole well beyond those types of games.

When you're holding a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

They get the 10, but she always seems to be a little on the mentally impaired side, like the last gorgeous chick, Notre.  That Dame was all pretty on the outside, but had some really serious mental issues.

Related: UCF is a pretty good football team.

They sure weren't considered good when Ohio State beat them last year.

Great point. It's amazing how the perception conveniently changes.

Imagine how the perception of UCF would change if they beat an SEC school.

UCF actually had plenty of respect last season. No one bashed Ohio State for a close win over the Knights. The tune was UCF is not your ordinary non-BCS school. Now, UAB...that's another story. People weren't kind to the Buckeyes for that one, and rightfully so.

But they're a BCS team now. Obviously they're a better team in the AAC than C-USA.

UCF actually had plenty of respect last season.

When you have people saying that the only "good" team Ohio State faced was Nebraska or UM, i'd say UCF wasn't getting much respect.

They weren't considered good by the Chicken Littles and the myopic branches of the OSU fanbase.  People who knew their college football knew UCF was a pretty good team.

This supports the argument against ANY one loss team jumping an Undefeated Ohio State. It's just damn hard to go undefeated no matter the perception of your SOS.

UCF is a solid team, and their resilience after being down 28-7 was admirable.

I graduated from UCF. I couldn't be more proud of the Knights for that epic 4th qtr game winning drive.

Does George O'Leary finally find a job with a BCS (yes I know it's going away) school next year after he embarrassed himself with ND?
