The problem is JERKYRIZZO21... It's not Bama or LSU that we're rebelling against. It's the whole idea of this "eSECpn bowl game"! I can't blame Bama or LSU because there isn't a team in the country that would have turned down their exact situation. However, the circumstances that surround eSECpn's involvement in this much aligned event is totally bias and frankly, is borderline hypocrisy.
I personally am craving some football, especially a decent battle between these two titans, but if we watch this game then we raise the TV ratings, only encouraging the bowl committee and eSECpn that what their doing is right. And I for one, don't ever want to see this happen again... atleast, not until a formatted playoff has indicated so first.

Real football fans want the sport to be competitive. Having an SEC divisional title rematch as the "national" championship is the very definition of non-competitive.
Listen man, I spend up to several hours every single day reading about college football. I absolutely love the sport. Hell, on certain OSU information heavy months (such as the last few) I'll even pony up the ridiculously exorbitant fee for Bucknuts' reliably mediocre writing (Seriously, when Ramzy writes for that site it's like Morgan Freeman acting in Evan Almighty).
But the past several years, I've found one consistent rooting interest in the BCS title game, regardless of the teams involved: whoever was playing the SEC. Now, ESPN has taken that little glimmer of hope for the new year away from me.
I refuse to turn the game on, not just because I don't want to encourage this type of selection in the future, but also because I have absolutely no interest in the outcome of this game. So tell me I'm not a football fan, but I endured the Purdue and Illinois games, sat through the Orange bowl's rendition of sex on the Jersey Shore, and I even got up at noon hungover to watch PSU get ra- er beaten badly by Houston.

I saw the 9-0 halftime score when I was at the gym but I made sure I didn't watch any TV there that had the game on (other than the glance at that score). Two and a Half Men is still interesting though not the same without Charlie Sheen. Now I'm actually watching WWE. James Laurinitis' uncle is some sort of "authority figure" on there.
I hope 'Bama wins only so that complete chaos reigns.

Certainly Ok St. would give up a lot of points to either of these teams. But I think they'd score more that what we're seeing.
I'd love to see a potent offense with time to prepare go against either of these defenses. Ok St. this year might not even be good enough, but how cool would it be to see USC with Leinart and Bush go against them?
It's not like we haven't see it before.
Everybody slobbered over Oregon and their offense and and thought they were unstoppable based on mediocre OOC competition and PAC-10 scoreboard spinning. Then they faced defenses with a pulse in Boise St and OSU the next year. Stopped again by an Auburn defense that wasn't even the SEC's best. And scored late on LSU to make the score closer than it was.
Oklahoma was an unstoppable force until they met Florida.
None of those defenses were anything like what these 2 teams bring.
Oregon's offense has been suspect for a while. I don't remember how good Oklahoma's O-line was supposed to be, but I think USC's was packed with draft picks. I think USC matched up well with either of these defenses both in the trenches and in skilled positions. I'm not saying they would have scored 50, but more than this. Also, unlike Oregon and Oklahoma, USC also had a defense full of draft picks.

This is possibly the best outcome for the game. A completely boring game that establishes nothing. Neither team can score, LSU looks like they've never played offensive football before.

I disagree, obviously (see below). LSU's reputation was "amazing defense, just good enough offense". They basically lived up to that, though the defense gave up a few more points than expected.

Sorry, no contest. I wouldn't want to be an LSU fan right now, but the OSU loss was worse. I don't think those demons will be exorcised until OSU wins another MNC or at least curbstomps an SEC champion (not SEC #2 team) in a BCS game. Not just wins, curbstomps.
I think it's an interesting question. While LSU was shutout, and that hurts big time, they still had an outside chance even with about 6 minutes to go. As I recall, we were done pretty much in the 3rd quarter.
It felt a lot more hopeless, at least to me. This was a struggle with Bama doing just a little better than LSU, at least until the TD. OSU was getting schooled the entire time.
I agree that my demons are not exorcised over that game, but the same time, the LSU loss sucks harder because it's a HOME GAME.
I don't think you can make the home game argument the same way you could when LSU played OSU. Alabama is right there too, and tickets are split evenly. Alabama could have practiced at home until two days ago.

very similar outcome. Both bad losses. They can't paint LSU as not having SEC speed, so, I guess LSU has no excuse..... therefore LSU has the worse loss.
I think the whole SEC Speed™ thing makes ours worse. Our loss was when SEC Speed™ (which is BS) came into existence and it damaged the reputation of our program from then on. I don't see much more than a few chuckles coming the way of LSU... but then again, I am never accused of group-think.
To be fair, SEC Speed™ wouldn't exist if the SEC didn't own the MNC the way they do. OSU only lost two of the six, but it's one more than any other team. Though, truly, there should have been no national champion at all in 2007.
As someone who doesn't support an SEC team, I felt like I wasn't invited to this title game.

I think the case you just made is for AP voting LSU #1, not Ok St. LSU's resume is better. And Luck may be the #1 draft pick, but Stanford was not a great team this year. Ok St needed to blow them out by 30 for this conversation to have any traction.

SEC aside, I think ESPN is trying to protect/legitimize the BCS. I know the coaches' poll is contractually tied to the BCS, and it's also called the ESPN coaches' poll. I think a split with Ok St is a non-starter, but I'd take the AP voting LSU #1 just as a fuck you to the BCS and ESPN.
And it's continuing here on SC. Up until this game there was so much talk about the toughest schedule ever for LSU this season. Now, all of a sudden, it's all about how historically great Alabama's defensive statistics are for the season, even though their schedule was much weaker than LSU's. It almost feels like Fox News in terms of pounding a message.
This game is just another example that waiting a month to decide your championship is obsurd.
