Seven Straight

It was close for a minute.  But then Jordan Hall showed up huge on a kickoff return and the beating was on. Again.

Hopefully this won't be the last time we'll see Mr. Rodriguez.  After all, he's been so kind to us.

I don't think we fans expect too much, it is how the wins go down. He doesn't run teams through like Wisconsin did to OSU. Perhaps that is why my blood pressure has risen like never before with wins under the Senator. God bless him though. Seriously. I think OSU was fortunate that Michigan sucks as bad as they do. That was a solid second half.

And records don't always speak for how good you are. Take Iowa and Michigan which heading into today had the same record, and one team is miles better than the other.

BTW - awesome frigging block Dane!  As much as all the clutch catches, I'll be really happy to remember him for making that kind of block, 50+ yards downfield. . .

I, for one, welcome our new coaching overlords.

Congrats to the Buckeyes for another great victory over Michigan.  I hate to sound like a broken record player once again.  But why has Jordan Hall been demoted for Saine again?  Saine hasn't shown anything all season as far as running the ball.  Hall is a much better running back.

Finally sobering up.  Have no idea how we put up 30 points, just remember 2 3 and out drives to start things and the returned kickoff.  LOL @ Michigan.

Bring on LSU, Arkansas, or Alabama.  If we have a real gameplan, we win easy.  Please no crap gameplan.

24 points over 3 years for RichRod, I am terrified if they get a defense.  If they could hold us to 6 points we might lose.

+1.  All the chirping on local radio up here about his O being so dangerous and the "progress" he is making makes me wonder why no one is questioning the 7 they rung up today.  Ignoring it won't make it go away.  They are bad.

And man do I love it.

I have been flipping to Florida-Florida State inbetween Wisconsin touchdowns. I could feel the smug little smile without trying at seeing Urbs mediocre team get worked.

I am getting tired of the announcers the last few weeks, and again today. "I don't know how you can put Ohio State ahead of Wisconsin." It is easy. Just do it like you did to Michigan State, whom beat Wisconsin. Double talking hypocrites. And nothing happened to Northwestern. They are not a good football team. They are just like Boise State/TCU. No athletes. Having one or two here and there does not make a team. I am actualy praying Oregon does not go down, so Wisconsin drops 65 on TCU.

Is it me or is it only a Buckeye fan can go 11-1 and still feel a bit disappointed.  Is it me or or does anyone else think we could have scored 50 points today easy.  On the other hand, seven in row over Michigan, six straight Big Ten titles, 6 straight 10 win seasons, and the Best Coach & program in the country. We open the 2011 season against Akron on Sept. 3rd.   Can't wait.

I'm not complaining, but yes, OSU could have scored 50+ easily today - and frankly in my opinion "should" have.

Pisses me off that we are outdone by Wisconsin in any way.

Anticipating the new Big Ten divisional rivalry with them with relish. I do not like Bielma!

Seconded.  I'm not disappointed, but I'm not nearly as excited as I was after last year's drama against Iowa and the Rose Bowl berth.

Ohio State hasn't beaten anyone of consequence this season.  None of their 11 wins were against teams that will finish in the top-25, but the Big Ten was considered up.  We still don't know if this team is any good, and I am worried how they stack up against SEC teams.

Glad for the team, glad for the huge senior class to finish with a championship.  But if they get a Sugar Bowl date with an SEC team, they better come to play.

tomcollins's picture
tomcollins on 27 Nov 2010 - 8:19pm #

It's mostly a product of the schedule.  We really only had 1 game against any respectable team.  Iowa is a joke.  Miami is a joke.  Penn State and Illinois - jokes.  We miss out on Sparty.  Wisconsin throttled us.

Am I a bit disappointed in this season?  Perhaps.  We were so close.  But, we pretty much matched expectations.  Losing 1 game is bound to happen without getting lucky.

If we can win a BCS game, I'll consider this season a success.  If Oregon and Auburn win out, we probably are stuck in the Rose Bowl anyway, so a good year to "blow" a game.

Most of the streaks we've had (B10 titles, Michigan streak, etc..) have been a product of a weak schedule and weak conference.  Tressel has his quirks, but I wouldn't trade him or the last 10 years for anyone else in the country.  I just wish he would learn a bit and improve and dominate even more.

2011 should be fun.  But PASS THE SUGAR!

I had a gut feeling that "evil Tressel" was not going to show up today. "Good Tressel" won the day, and had sympathy for RichRod and TTUN. It should have been much worse. But I was glad the OSU D held the so-called "high powered offense" to seven points.

Good job taking care of business today Bucks.  Congratulations to a historic senior class.  Still difficult to say how this team compares to others around the country.  If 2006 is the yardstick (MNC game notwithstanding), this offense is still crazy inconsistent.  Despite all the injuries, our D gets the job done.  The bowl game will be a good test.  What would the line be on an OSU - Arkansas game?  Bucks by 3?

I didn't believe the rule existed, so I looked it up.

RULE 9-2, ARTICLE 1. There shall be no unsportsmanlike conduct or any act

that interferes with orderly game administration on the part of players,

substitutes, coaches, authorized attendants or any other persons subject to

the rules, before the game, during the game or between periods.

a. Specifically prohibited acts and conduct include:

1. No player, substitute, coach or other person subject to the rules shall

use abusive, threatening or obscene language or gestures, or engage

in such acts that provoke ill will or are demeaning to an opponent, to

game officials or to the image of the game, including but not limited

to:

(a) Pointing the finger(s), hand(s), arm(s) or ball at an opponent, or

imitating the slashing of the throat.

(b) Taunting, baiting or ridiculing an opponent verbally.

(c) Inciting an opponent or spectators in any other way, such as

simulating the firing of a weapon or placing a hand by the ear to

request recognition.

(d) Any delayed, excessive, prolonged or choreographed act by

which a player (or players) attempts to focus attention upon

himself (or themselves).

(e) An unopposed ball carrier obviously altering stride as he

approaches the opponent’s goal line or diving into the end zone.

(f) Removal of a player’s helmet before he is in the team area

(Exceptions: Team, media or injury timeouts; equipment

adjustment; through play; between periods; and during a

measurement for a first down).

(g) Punching one’s own chest or crossing one’s arms in front of the

chest while standing over a prone player.

(h) Going into the stands to interact with spectators, or bowing at the

waist after a good play.

This rule is ridiculous! And super subjective, which is why I'd never seen a penalty called for hand gesturing (including when Beanie and Pittman used to throw up the A for Akron).

The officiating crew was out of line throwing those flags, especially when they ignored scUM's center punching Cam Heyward when he was down on the drive right after the second (Tress was pissed on the sideline, and you can practically see him saying "the O is a penalty, but that shit wasn't!"), but they apparently were just very liberally interpreting the official rules. *le sigh*
