  • Ivan Maisel weighs in with his midseason pick for the Heisman and he gives the nod to Oklahoma's Adrian Peterson over Troy Smith.
..I think there's a difference between the Heisman, which honors the "most outstanding player" in college football, and the typical award. That word "outstanding" suggests a level of excellence that Smith, in my mind, hasn't achieved.
I guess by "level of excellence" he means the two bone-headed turnovers (one leading directly to a touchdown) Peterson coughed up in his team's biggest game of the year. Peterson isn't even the best running back in the nation.
  • Four of SI.com's writers take a peak into their crystal balls and all four have the Buckeyes projected to play in the BCS title game. Mandel has the Bucks going against Florida, Winn has a rematch with Texas forecasted, while both McCartney and Beech see the Bucks squaring off with West Virginia.
  • SI.com also has their midseason All-Americas up and both Smith and Little Animal make the first team cut. Alex "Milwaukee's Best" Boone and Quinn Pitcock were selected on the second team.
