If this was possible to script, I would swear it was scripted.

I guess God just has a sense of humor.

Word of the Day: Parlous.

WELCOME ABOARD, I GUESS? This is quickly turning into the worst-kept secret in college football.

So, if you haven't been following along, former USC linebacker Palaie Gaoteote (a five-star prospect out of high school who was heavily recruited by the Buckeyes) has been linked to Ohio State for quite a while.

And by "linked," I don't mean random message board rumors. He's been hanging out on campus, has presumably been the subject of some cryptic Tweets from Al Washington, is literally in Ohio State's student directory, and has been seen with members of the team.

And now we've even got the official Ohio State Football account Tweeting photos of him hanging out at a linebackers outing to Top Golf.

I'm not sure things could possibly get any more crystal clear, but hilariously, there's still been no formal announcement from Gaoteote or Ohio State. At this point, I lowkey hope they just wait to announce him as part of the starting lineup in September.

Also, it would appear that Steele Chambers is with the linebackers now, which is cool and fun. I guess this is just how we're going to learn of major roster moves now.

I can't wait till we learn the team's starting quarterback from a casual photo Tweeted from the team account.

TWO-SPORT ATHLETE. It looks like Ohio State basketball is going to sign a five-star big man after all!

J.T. Tuimoloau isn’t going to Ohio State with plans on being just a one-sport athlete.

The top-rated football player in the 247Sports recruiting rankings for the class of 2021 will join the Buckeyes with hopes of also joining the men’s basketball program during the offseason.

While on his official visit to Ohio State that began June 18, Tuimoloau spent time meeting with Ohio State men’s basketball coach Chris Holtmann and his staff. Tuimoloau was told he is welcome to play, and both Holtmann and football coach Ryan Day will work on the details with Tuimoloau and his family in the coming months.

You can mark me down as extremely skeptical that this actually comes to fruition, but I'll tell you what, I'll gladly tune in if it happens!

Although I will be lightly salted if he gets a chance to hoop for the local team before Dawand Jones.

ABSOLUTELY LOADED. I just came to the realization yesterday that every single scholarship receiver on Ohio State's current roster was a top-100 prospect coming out of high school.

... except Chris Olave.

Let's take a look!

  • 2021 – Emeka Egbuka (#9)
  • 2021 – Marvin Harrison Jr. (#96)
  • 2021 – Jayden Ballard (#98)
  • 2020 – Julian Fleming (#3)
  • 2020 – Jaxon Smith-Njigba (#29)
  • 2019 – Garrett Wilson (#20)
  • 2018 – Kamryn Babb (#73)
  • 2018 – Chris Olave (#399)

So basically, the only thing keeping Ohio State from claiming that every receiver on the roster is the best returning receiver in college football. Cool!

SURE, WHY NOT? Ohio State went ahead and signed two five-star defensive ends in one class, so I guess they may as well just add another one in the next class, as well.

RIP in peace, quarterbacks.
