Hoops stuff:

  • The women's team beat Rutgers behind a 43-point night from Kelsey Mitchell. The Buckeyes play Michigan State "25 minutes after" the 3:30 p.m. game between Maryland and Northwestern.
  • The men's team plays No. 2 Michigan State in East Lansing at noon on ESPN.

Also, Noah Spence reportedly gave a bad answer at the NFL Combine:

Perhaps he was talking about the university as a whole!

DOLO READY TO SHOW OTHER TALENTS. Drafts are indefensible. We tell ourselves it helps parity, but it doesn't. The trash generally stays the trash, and yet trash teams are continually rewarded with their pick of the litter.

"Hey, I trained for years in a highly specialized field. Please hire me."

"Congratulations on your multiple degrees. Here's your KFC manager's uniform."

Such is the depths where we find our hero, the Iron King, Cardale Jones, First of His Name, Poacher of Badgers, Controller of Tides, Slayer of Ducks, Troll Sultan, and 12th Son of Ohio.

After dinging his hamstring during the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, Jones is hoping to showcase different aspects of his game at Ohio State's pro day.

From espn.com:

"I don’t think I get a lot of credit for how cerebral I am when it comes to being the quarterback," he said.

He said people may think of him as a goofball given his personality, but he added that they don't see the hours he puts in to prepare for games. He even said he was eager to shock teams in his interviews.

"I don’t get a lot of credit for my knowledge of the game. I don’t think OSU gets a lot of credit for the things and the responsibilities they put on a quarterback," he said.

I just hope Dolo lands with a stable franchise. I realize he's not a spring chicken, but non-Browns quarterbacks are the most protected players in the league. There's no need to rush him.

I worry what would happen if a franchise desperate to win threw him into the fire too early. It could ruin his career before it even begins.

STEELERS KICK TIRES ON DECKER. It's the time of year where NFL franchises are sniffing around every prospect, but it looks like the Pittsburgh Steelers (owner of the 25th overall pick in the daft) have special interest in a former Ohio State tackle.

"I know the Steelers like their Buckeyes, so that was definitely a good meeting. I thought it went well," Decker told Josh Taylor of Trib Radio Live. Decker said he met with head coach Mike Tomlin and about 10 other people during the meeting.

In the meantime, Decker continues to train under former Ohio State standout LeCharles Bentley:

What can I say at this point? I hate the Steelers.

IF YOU BUILD IT, THE CAMERAS WILL COME. Urban Meyer promised an unprecedented pro day. It looks like he wasn't lying.

From dispatch.com:

With up to six Buckeyes under consideration for the first round, a team spokesman confirmed that the NFL Network plans to cover the event live. Also expected to have live reports are ESPN and the Big Ten Network.

March 11 is going to be a banner day for Buckeye football. No gimmicks needed.

IMAGE NOT ACTUAL SIZE. Columbus native, IndyCar driver, and Ohio State fan Graham Rahal is selling autographed mini versions of the Buckeye helmet he wears during races:

woah woah

Yours for the low price of $120. This is a limited run of 500.

THOSE WMDs. Scientists use criminal profiling to 'identify' Banksy... Drive arrested for homemade license plate... Journalists need to get out more... Former animal shelter head indicted for animal cruelty... Flint is in the news, but lead poisoning is even worse in Cleveland.
