Ohio State's defensive back room continues to shine in practices open to the media.
During the Buckeyes' Friday Ohio Stadium practice ahead of the 2026 spring game on Saturday, the DBs had the upper hand over Ohio State's vaunted receiver corps, with cornerbacks Dominick Kelly and Devin Sanchez being the top standouts. Jaylen McClain also looked sturdy as ever, while freshman Jordan Thomas made some waves with an interception and at least one pass breakup.
Redshirt senior Beau Atkinson continues his strong spring at defensive end after a disappointing first year at Ohio State. A consistent invader of the backfield, he truck-sticked redshirt freshman offensive tackle Carter Lowe on a bull rush in the red zone period. Overall, the defense had the upper hand, as Epi Sitanilei was another defensive lineman who stood out.
That's not to say there weren't some good performers on offense. Wide receiver Brandon Inniss had an explosive touchdown catch and a slick one-handed grab. The four men battling to start alongside Smith and Inniss – Devin McCuin, Kyle Parker, Chris Henry Jr. and Brock Boyd – all had flashes as well.
Eleven Warriors' Dan Hope and Andy Anders are here to break it all down on a new episode of Press Coverage, which you can watch at the top of the page.
