Ohio State beats Purdue 34-10 and improves to 9-0 on the season.
Phillip Daniels' absence has paved the way for Ohio State to get a look at one of its younger prospects at the tackle position.
With Daniels out with an injury against Purdue, redshirt freshman Ian Moore made his first career start at right tackle. He got the nod over Rice transfer Ethan Onianwa, who switched to guard after his move to Columbus but was a candidate to replace Daniels at tackle.
Moore has played 33 snaps this season, mostly in mop-up duty with the Buckeyes' second-team offensive line. He was the No. 168 overall prospect in the 247Sports composite for the recruiting class of 2024, the No. 5 interior offensive line and No. 4 recruit from Indiana. He'll make his first career start in his home state Saturday.
Daniels, who's started each game this year for Ohio State at right tackle, isn't expected to be out long-term. He was listed as questionable on the Buckeyes' status report entering the game and will be a candidate to return for next week's game against UCLA.
Onianwa, fellow redshirt freshman Deontae Armstrong and freshman Carter Lowe will be backup options at right tackle behind Moore.
