Ohio State remains at the top of the college football world with respect to both the AP and Coaches Polls ahead of the Buckeyes' bye week following a 37-9 win over Ohio.
OSU received 55 of 66 possible first-place votes in the AP Poll and 62 of 67 in the Coaches Poll. Neither set of rankings witnessed any movement among its top three teams, but the AP Poll saw both Miami (FL) and Georgia vault ahead of Oregon, the latter of which fell to sixth overall. Florida State also climbed three spots to leap ahead of both Texas and Illinois.
Indiana moved into the top 20 of the AP Poll after a 73-0 domination of in-state opponent Indiana State, while Michigan recovered a bit of the ranking it lost last week by moving up to 21st overall following a 63-3 win over Central Michigan. USC remains the last Big Ten team within the top 25 in wake of a 33-17 win over Purdue.
Texas A&M saw the largest jump in the AP Poll, moving up six spots following a thrilling win in the closing seconds of its game on the road against Notre Dame last night. The Fighting Irish subsequently saw the largest drop among teams that remain ranked, plummeting 16 spots to 24th overall ahead of only their Trojan rivals. Both Clemson and South Carolina dropped out entirely on the heels of upset losses to both Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt, respectively.
As for the Coaches Poll, the Aggies once again saw the greatest upward trajectory with a seven-spot rise to 10th overall. The Gamecocks saw the largest drop — 14 ranks compared to 13 for Notre Dame — but remain ranked at 24th overall, likely an acknowledgement of the injury to quarterback LaNorris Sellers that the team suffered during its loss.
