Ryan Day will have plenty of coaching points for his team, but it's always better to have coaching points after a win – especially a comfortable one.
Ohio State outgained Ohio 572 yards to 181, but that only translated to a 37-9 victory after the Buckeyes went 2-of-6 on red zone touchdowns, committed six penalties for 50 yards and turned the ball over twice. But perhaps the chance to offer some humility entering the off week is a positive for Day and his staff.
Bo Jackson outperformed James Peoples and CJ Donaldson for a second consecutive week with nine carries for 109 yards, and we're confident saying now that he should be the Buckeyes' No. 1 running back.
Elsewhere, Julian Sayin made a few mistakes and ended with two interceptions but continued to deliver accurate pass after accurate pass otherwise. He finished 25-of-32 for 347 yards and three touchdowns, and future first-round NFL draft picks Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate both posted 100-yard receiving games.
Ohio State's defense made some interesting depth chart changes with Tywone Malone Jr. starting at defensive tackle over Eddrick Houston and Jermaine Mathews Jr. sliding over to nickel as Devin Sanchez took his place following an injury to Lorenzo Styles Jr. But outside one long Ohio touchdown, it was another dominant outing, particularly from the Buckeyes' defensive line led by Caden Curry and Beau Atkinson. Arvell Reese was a menace once more and Jaylen McClain laid the hit of the year thus far in another strong outing for Matt Patricia’s unit.
