Ryan Day names Julian Sayin as Ohio State’s starting quarterback.
Three Ohio State players earned preseason All-American honors from the Associated Press.
Ohio State’s two biggest superstars, wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and safety Caleb Downs, were both named first-team preseason AP All-Americans. The AP selected Purdue transfer tight end Max Klare as a second-team preseason All-American.
Smith and Downs have been named first-team preseason All-Americans by every major media outlet that’s released a preseason All-American team. They’re widely regarded as the two best players in all of college football, particularly at their respective positions.
Klare was already one of the nation’s top tight ends last season, catching 51 passes for 685 yards and four touchdowns, and now looks to take another step forward as he goes from a team that went 1-11 last season to one of the top programs in the country.
Texas and Penn State – both of whom will play at Ohio Stadium this season – are the lone teams with three first-team preseason AP All-Americans. Ohio State is one of five teams with two first-team preseason AP All-Americans along with Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh.
