Ohio State’s bid for a second straight national championship fell flat as the Buckeyes were unable to fix their flaws in this year’s College Football Playoff, suffering a 24-14 loss to Miami in the CFP quarterfinal at the Cotton Bowl to end their season.
The Buckeyes’ offensive line, run game and special teams had been their biggest weaknesses all season, and those weaknesses superseded Ohio State’s strengths against the Hurricanes. As great as Ohio State was during the regular season, the Buckeyes proved unable to respond to adversity in the postseason.
The 2025 Buckeyes weren’t as experienced or as deep as the 2024 Buckeyes, and those differences ultimately showed themselves in the biggest games of the season. And while we don’t doubt that the Buckeyes wanted to win another national championship badly, it’s only human nature that they likely didn’t feel quite the same level of motivation after beating Michigan as last year’s team did following its loss in The Game.
Eleven Warriors’ Dan Hope and Chase Brown share all of their initial thoughts on the Buckeyes’ loss on After Carmen, Eleven Warriors’ official postgame show.
