C.J. Stroud, TreVeyon Henderson Named Walter Camp Player of the Year Semifinalists

Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud and running back TreVeyon Henderson were both named among 15 Walter Camp Player of the Year semifinalists on Thursday. 

The award honors the college football player of the year and is voted on by coaches and sports information directors. OSU is one of two schools nationwide to have two players selected as semifinalists, with Alabama being the other. 

This season, Stroud has completed 183 of 273 passes for 2,675 yards and 25 touchdowns compared to five interceptions. Meanwhile, Henderson has run for 937 yards on 128 carries with 12 touchdowns, averaging 7.3 yards per carry. 

A list of five finalists will be announced on Dec. 2, and the winner announced on ESPN’s College Football Awards Show on Dec. 9. 

Other nominees include Alabama linebacker Will Anderson and quarterback Bryce Young, Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral, Georgia defensive lineman Jordan Davis, Penn State wideout Jahan Dotson, Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman, Utah linebacker Devin Lloyd, Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett, Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ridder, Oregon defensive lineman Kayvon Thibodeaux, Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker III, Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams and Western Kentucky quarterback Bailey Zappe.
