Ohio State defensive end Jalyn Holmes has accepted an invitation to participate in the 2018 Senior Bowl, the premier all-star game for NFL draft prospects announced Monday.

While Holmes will likely be joined by numerous other Buckeyes at this year's Senior Bowl, which will be played on Jan. 27 in Mobile, Ala., Holmes is the first Ohio State draft prospect to be announced as one of this year's participants.

In his final season at Ohio State, Holmes has led all Ohio State defensive linemen with 486 snaps played and recorded 25 total tackles, two sacks and one tackle for loss.

While Holmes' play has often been overshadowed by fellow Ohio State defensive ends Tyquan Lewis, Sam Hubbard and Nick Bosa, participating in the Senior Bowl could be an opportunity to emerge from their shadows, while competing against some of the best college football alumni from around the country in front of scouts from every NFL team.

Holmes is ranked as the third-best senior defensive end prospect and as the 60th-best overall prospect for the 2018 draft by NFLDraftScout.com.
