Ohio State is back in the thick of things.

Following what was the craziest weekend of the college football season where four top-10 teams lost, the emergence of the Ohio State offense over the last five weeks is starting to play into the decision-making of the coaches on the coaches poll.

After being 9th last week, Ohio State jumps up to No. 6 following losses by previously-ranked No. 2 Clemson, No. 5 Washington and No. 8 Washington State.

Alabama was the unanimous No. 1 after dismantling the Bret Bielema-lead Arkansas Razorbacks while Penn State slides into No. 2 after being the benefactor of Clemson losing on their bye week. Georgia follows at No. 3 and with the top five rounded out by TCU at No. 4 and Wisconsin at No. 5.

Elsewhere in the top 10 — Mark Richt has his Miami Hurricanes at No. 7, and the program is back into the top 10 of the coaches poll for the first time since Richt took over in December of 2015.

Despite having to go to overtime on the road at Indiana, Michigan moved up one spot to No. 15.

For comparison, the Big Ten has three teams in the top six and five in the top 20. The SEC has two of the top three teams in the country in Alabama and Georgia, though Auburn, Texas A&M and LSU are all ranging from 21-25.
